I'm probably the only one not in full blown melt down about the pick swap. We gave up drafts to get paddy and Dixon (the right decision at the time) we now have 4 picks inside 50 and 3 in 30. Get young talent in now, the draft is good, they'll still be young next year.
Next year's pick 5-15 might be Ollie Wines..might be Andrew Moore. We get a couple of goes at it now.
The melt comes when we get 4 skinny flankers

But as for the Jonas extension....**** me :(

Cripps goes on about how we dont sign to many on long term contracts when comparing to other clubs and the ones we have the members would be accepting of.. please what member would be happy to see jonas sign on for 3 more years? Like Lobbe and Like Hammer he hasn't fired a shot since 2014???!

TJ. Three years. Right here, Ports...

Delist lobbe? We'd look even worse...

How? This year we had Trengove, next year we have Ryder and Trengove.

Not wanting to publicly flush money down the drain is literally the only reason to keep Lobbe on.

To be fair Port played hardball. Jonas wanted 5 years.

CD: Listen, don't mention a five year deal! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right. [returns to negotiations] So! It's all forgotten now, and let's hear no more about it. So, that's 500k a year, a nike sponsorship, a junket to the US, and a five year deal.

The contract lengths for Lobbe and Hartlett arent the problem. Its the value. Lobbe wouldve been on our list as a capable backup until 2019, he is outstanding depth for our list, but we just stuffed up on the money.

Same with HH, he was always playing out his career here, always! Its just the amount we're paying him as an underperformer that is the issue because we certainly wouldnt have delisted him or traded him if it wasnt for the remuneration he is on.

I'm disappointed that we pay them so much but im 100% happy with their place on the list.

I hope we delist Lobbe and Ladey can use his wand on whatever we can pick up in the PSD.
Well that ain't gonna happen and with **** all mature ruck cover other than Lobbe we better hope Ladey can do something with him.... how feckin' depressing

I'm the president of the Tom Jonas fan club and even I don't think he's worth a three year deal.

We will not go forward as a football club until Chris Davies is sacked. Or at least spends 5 minutes reading a 'negotiating for dummies' book.
Looking at our potential delistees i wouldve absolutely had him on the at risk list for 2017 delisting so to be signing 3 years when he should be on the edge at the end of this year seems really strange.

So you've had all season and your whole job is list management. The club's talking tough on knowing who to move on and being really active, you get to trade period and you are all ready, all your research done and are ready to go. With pens and pencils lined up and A4 sheets at the ready you sit there, ready to execute the big trade plan. Suddenly the coach calls, "I wanna keep Hammer", your whole plan is now off to a bad start. You sit there wondering what to do.. "Maybe the best thing this week is to do nothing and see what else is happening".

Week 2 rolls around, eager to start executing your plan you wait for the interest in your assets to come, you're thinking I'm gonna start off with trading Lobbe as he wants to go and this will get the ball rolling, get me in the zone and I'll smash out my plan that's taken all year to prepare. The week rolls on, nobody has called when suddenly Brisbane and Gold Coast ring. "Hey, you mind doing us a favour and giving up your first round for next year? We'll give you some crappy 2nd rounds in return but you'll get some momentum into that stunning trade plan we all know you have" Buoyed by this idea, you eagerly enter discussions and see how this will start off week 3.

Week 3 comes in and suddenly you have nothing with a day and a half to go, out of panic you pull the trigger with Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Those are great guys who just want to help you get your plan going, if you can get started today there's still time to get 1/2 of your plan done. Using the points calculator you work out that it's not that bad, at worst I'm breaking even so you go ahead. Facing the media later that day you start to realise you've been had, someone should have had your back but Gold Coast and Brisbane told you how doing this trade would get your stunning plan going and were doing you a favour, did they lie to you? You get to the end of the day and realise that no one is interested in the rest of your trades, your plan and year go down in flames. You quickly retire to start working out next years trading plan of getting a first rounder in 2017 for 2018 and 2019's first rounders. "Cunning" you say to yourself, no one will see this coming.

Thats the way i see it as well. Like it or not Jonas most likely is in our best 22, or at least was prior to suspension and injury during the year. Surely we will delist the likes of Oshea.

Obviously Jonas had offers from other clubs to pick him up as a DFA.

We don't want to lose him for nothing, but we don't want to pay him best 22 salary, so we add on a year or two to his contract and pay him as a depth player, in the realms of S.Gray/P.Stewart.

The best outcome is that we get a best 22 player on a cheap as **** wage for three years.

The worst outcome is that we get a depth player on an average wage for three years.

He's a player that absolutely screams "I'm not built for modern football". Imagine Jonas on Clay Smith, a rotating Bontempelli, Macrae or Stringer. He's too small for talls, and too big for smalls - yet we consistently play him on both. Slow, terrible kick, no attacking side to his game.

I don't understand it.
