2016 Draft discussion

I think about it in terms of need. We're not worried that the player type we need won't be available. We're really debating the difference between a forward-mid and a mid-forward. Both would add substantially to our list. It isn't like we're thinking "Ainsworth is essential and McCluggage is a nice to have" or vice versa. I think that if McCluggage is the better prospect (as judged by most pundits), that's possibly balanced out by Ainsworth's commitment to playing with us if he's drafted here. Unless McCluggage is a massive "go home" risk (which I haven't seen mentioned), I'm happy that we go with talent and back ourselves in to continue to build the sort of environment where players want to stay.

I am very surprised someone has said that they are interested in Battle in the top 10. GC perhaps.

Sydney was the other one that came to mind. They seem most often linked with Logue. But if Logue goes to Freo, then they might look at taking another mobile tallish type like Battle.

One of my main reasons for wanting Ainsworth is his attitude/confidence. I've commented on this before and we need more of his types to add to Matho. We really don't have these types.

No he didn't. He said before he gave his top 10 that this is who he thinks are the top 10 players, nothing to do with where he thinks the players will be selected.

Ok missed that, I literally turned it on and heard him say at pick 3 I'd take Tim Taranto then after his spiel kb said ok Taranto to the lions. Then he messed up and said Ainsworth next at pick 3 again and then kb corrected him and said pick 4. I stopped listening after that.
