Oh no... its Waterpistolgate - how will these guys ever recover from the sheer humiliation of a water pistol. A dark day for the Lions.

Seriously, is it because there's nothing football related left until February that we're all getting a bit jumpy?
Nah, just poorly done and looks amateurish.

I've no issue with hazing. It's pretty well standard in many sports. And these days it's pretty well harmless what happens. Just would have been better off not to broadcast that we can't even do a water pistol hosing right. Now if they had done it right, that would have looked much better.

A few people think it was crap, a few think it's normal... most agree it was cringe worthy. It's a forum, we are all hanging to see the first glimpses of our new kids arriving.. I used to love seeing Browny stride out and give them a big handshake and the smiles that followed, one of the best parts of the year, the SUns one was great.. it's a special moment for fans and the club.. do you think Brown would take to them with a super soaker?, no.. he would have way more sense for the occasion.. it's not a big issue, there was no malice intended.. it was just a missed moment, I am sure plenty of other vids will follow in the next few days with really pleasing content, just a stuff up - we move on though.

yep... and I imagine the rookies when they earn their place (if they didnt already) rip in to a few about the epic failure in good spirit. Culture building imo

Grewar is apparently a ripping lad. Real leadership potential too.

Love hearing that.

Seems like character been given a lot of extra attention this year.

Because people think for just a moment guys cant muck around. Im a paramedic and it is bloody common to pull praks on newbies. Breaks the ice just nicely. Footy clubs are full of this from junior years. Who cares. Some people shouldnt comment imo

"I told him he was dead.. he was doing CPR on him for like.. 10 minutes, you should have seen it... IDIOT" haha

Its funny.. those claiming people are 'so outraged'.. are way more 'outraged' about some people having a passing opinion about it being crap. Just accept some people don't apreciate it.

or funny that something so lighthearted can become criticized so much? And to the point "It look amateur" bla bla

this whole pistolgate scandal can be put down to poor editing by lions TV IMO, i would like to see the 5 minutes immediately after the pistoling, could have been a joke to cool the boys down coming from a cold melbourne morning to a typical humid brizzy day.

i thought it was not a great first impression, although this is coming from a 57 year old balding grand father a few years past his lovable larrikin stage. i do remember how i carried on when i was that age though.

i don't know, the youth of today, it's not like back in the good old days.;)

He would've played with him at Champs last year and considering how vocal Matho is he'd be well know amongst everyone who played with him.

Gonna say we need another nickname though, when I hear Strawbs I instantly think of Merrett. Not like there's a shortage of berry related nicknames.

Surely it has to be Chuck...or Mull

I'm more concerned about a few recruits rocking up to Brissy wearing jumpers on a day like today TBH.

I wonder how many Vic boys have trouble adjusting to the heat and humidity? To go from 20 degrees and dry to 35 degrees and humid must be hard. Although on the other hand some may love it if they're not fond of cold weather

Hey, I'm with you on Chuck; perfect nickname for a man with that last name. But we'll all have ideas and as always his teammates will be the one to choose his persistent nickname and like always the one that sticks will be the one he resists the most.

Came here to read about football and instead there is 4 pages of crap about bloody water pistols......

Sure, it wasn't funny but if this is a big deal then wake me up when the season starts as it is going to be a bloody long off season

Its just people making observations mate, dont let it get to you so much. There are actually incredibly varied opinions on it, so whilst you can shrink it down to 'a few kids with water pistols'.. clearly it holds varied meaning for others. We are all excited, nervous and invested in our new boys.. its draft week, they are arriving today.. for some of us, that wasnt the way in which we pictured them being greeted by our senior core. Its really not as nauseating as you're claiming..

whether it worked or not it doesnt matter. And in fact if it was deemed a failure in the rooms even better...great ice breaker. Better then the draftees being lead into the room with a heap of serious eyes looking at them. Seriously, people need to get a grip

Our team is predominantly made up of 18 to 22 year olds. Kids.

IMO .. the media department came up with this and organised the camera, pistols etc.. they missed the mark on this one, but looking forward to the rest of the weeks content, it'll improve.

Water pistol challenge would be a good idea to help with the heat imo

People of course are entitled to their own opinion, but this is a classic case of lesser issues being magnified in the absence of actual legitimate news.

One or 2 comments fair enough but 4 pages largely centred around water pistols is a bit of an overkill!
