this whole pistolgate scandal can be put down to poor editing by lions TV IMO, i would like to see the 5 minutes immediately after the pistoling, could have been a joke to cool the boys down coming from a cold melbourne morning to a typical humid brizzy day.
i thought it was not a great first impression, although this is coming from a 57 year old balding grand father a few years past his lovable larrikin stage. i do remember how i carried on when i was that age though.
i don't know, the youth of today, it's not like back in the good old days.![]()
Dont think that will be a problem. Plenty of 'Indians' left at the LionsLooks like we have loaded up on leaders.
Hopefully there are enough Indians left in the camp to follow all these Chiefs![]()

And he seemed quite genuine when he said he wasn't expecting to hear his name called in the ND.Nice touch for MRobbo to interview Lyons, perhaps our lowest profile draftee in the ND.
Good man MRobbo
And Lyons impresses me as a really likeable young fella![]()
Balony.Because people think for just a moment guys cant muck around. Im a paramedic and it is bloody common to pull praks on newbies. Breaks the ice just nicely. Footy clubs are full of this from junior years. Who cares. Some people shouldnt comment imo
FTFYNew nickname for all our draftees
"pistol"
PistolPissy Pants McCluggage
PistolPissy Pants Berry
PistolPissy Pants Witherden
PistolPissy Pants Cox
...ok that's enough
How so Quigs?
I don't for a minute believe this is the case but would be interested in hearing why you have come to this conclusion..
In this case it's as simple as working out do we rate the player highly enough to move back X amount of picks in next years equivalent round. The club would have a rating for an academy player, for Watson we obviously didn't consider his worth taking that hit.Only if list management was so simple as just matching a bid!
COOL guys and hot weather.
That is what Lions draftees Hugh McCluggage, Jarrod Berry, Cedric Cox and Alex Witherden encountered when they arrived in their new home town.
The newbies were thrilled to see Brisbane players Harris Andrews, Ryan Bastinac and Mitch Robinson at the airport to meet them.
But it’s fair to say they were less enthusiastic about news that southeast Queensland was bracing for a heatwave.
Andrews, considered a potential future captain of the club, has taken in McCluggage and Berry for their first year away from home.
Berry, a midfielder from North Ballarat, said it meant a lot to have someone who was close to their age as a host, who not only remembered clearly everything a draftee goes through but was also already established as a senior player.
“He (Andrew) is an absolute champion, it was good to have some senior fellas welcome us to the club and I can’t wait to get to know him better,” Berry said.
“He has been around the traps a little bit and to take Hugh and I under his wing shows the quality of bloke he is.
“It’s all new for us and to be made to feel so welcome from these guys just makes the whole experience better.”
While Berry said it was the thrill of a lifetime to be a part of an AFL side, he realises training will be brutal for the first few weeks, especially with Brisbane expecting temperatures in the mid-30s for the rest of the week.
“We’ve been warned about the heatwave and everyone is telling us it will be the hardest few weeks of your life,” he said.
“So we know what’s coming, but I don’t think it becomes real until you are doing it. You think you are prepared but I guess we’ll find out.”
Berry, the Lions’ second AFL draft pick on Friday night at selection No.17, said he had enjoyed the opportunity to spend a few days with family and friends before heading north to start his new footy life.
“It has been all excitement and anticipation of what is going to happen,” he said.
“I caught up with everyone, family and friends, and that has been awesome because they are the main reason we got this opportunity.”

Kind of gets lost in everything as he played so early in his career. To think that he will be playing only his third season, NEXT YEAR. Bit more size, another pre-season and it'll be interesting to see the season he will have.Amazing maturity. Doesn't even turn 20 for a couple of weeks yet.
Have high hopes that he will become an enforcer type for the team with his size and attitude.Amazing maturity. Doesn't even turn 20 for a couple of weeks yet.
In other words; mocked again...Being reported in the HUN as a weird sort of welcome for our draftees, not the usual sort of welcome to AFL footy etc....but they do things differently up in Qld.

Mock, scornful and contemptuous. There'd be a few on here that could show them how.In other words; mocked again...
Justification of playing the opinion card, Trump?Yep.......it usually is the little things that can make or break, in our case, a club.......they add up. Just can't imagine the Hawks or Swans greeting their newbies like we did.
OTT? nah just a different opinion.
