I'll take a stab with 8-10 names
Poholke - fwd/ mid great overhead and good at most things
Lipinski- inside/ outside mid with elite endurance . Basketball background and good size
Drew- inside mid , great endurance competitive
Graham - SA kid larke medallist , big inside mid that is strong inside
Himmelberg - brother of Harrison who we bid on, emerging key position type . Not academy as moved to QLD
Cedric Cox - outside mid / half back from northern WA that moved to Vic . Brother came 2nd in the recruit show
Jarman - F/S forward/ mid. Smart and courageous with high skill level and footy IQ . Small and slow
Guelfi - inside mid from WA
Whimpress - raw , skinny pacy tall half back from SA
Fisher - small inside/ outside mid from WA who gets plenty of ball
Not sure what to think of Whimpress - has pace, but is poor defensively for a half back

We won't be picking Graham IMO, we'll be picking players with great upside.

Cox screams 'project' to me, definitely not 'meh'.

Guelfi I certainly rate, also something of a project due to not so good endurance but has a lot of the tools
We'll agree to disagree on this

Isn't that why he would be a #53 .....that's about where he may be taken, and anyone at that pick will have faults ........defending can be taught, being brave, attacking and speedy can't

Or can it?

Think you're referring to Physicality with Henderson ......not the skill of defending.

Are you saying Whimpress at his age is any different to Laird or Brown .......don't think so

Nah I'm definitely referring to defending, anyway aren't the two combined? The reason Hendo didn't completely work as a defender (despite the fact he could rebound well) is that he was poor 1v1, but also had very much an attacking mindset

He was poor one on one, because he didn't seek to develop that aspect of his game over 8 years .......that's his fault

Can you teach a player to be harder in a contest like a 1v1 if they're already poor defensively to start with, though? IMO defensive HARDNESS is one of the things you can't teach. That's what worries me about Whimpress

Absolutely ....players like Sloane have played that way their whole life, so it's in-built ......but Laird came as a midfielder & had to learn the 1:1 skills via all the training

Atkins was also pure outside, and whilst a long way off yet, you can see the small improvements ......same with Menzel, who at Carlton was so outside, he was with the spectators on the fence

Laird always had a big body, though, so it would have been easier for him to learn those 1v1 skills. Meanwhile, Whimpress is lanky as ****, he'll find it very hard to learn those skills soon.

Hard at 17/18 to know how the player will fill out .....need to look at the parents genetics

We know ;) Ben Jarman will fill out .......don't think that's an outlandish statement

188cm and 73kg, is Whimpress. That's a pretty big height/weight differential even for someone who is 17/18

I am surprised he's that tall, doesn't look or play tall ......what is he, 12 kgs from an ideal playing weight?

Picks 43 and 53 will be interesting. I'm tipping at least one guy no one has heard of and at least one tall.

Liam Baker (from WA) with a late/rookie pick. An aggressive small guy with a mullet is exactly what we need.

Is Michael Gibbons worth a look as a mature age midfielder? Comparisons with Sam Mitchell as he uses left/right foot.

I dont know much about him can someone with more knowledge of him fill me in?

he will be gone top 30 ish though Bicks

Talking later picks
I don't think he will, has very good skills, speed and line breaking ability but needs to work on his contested game at this time to go that high in the draft IMO. Strange that he doesn't get a little more involved in the contested stuff because he's certainly well developed physically as opposed to Whimpress and Villis who have similar game styles but are miles off physically.

Yep and that no name would have been in our top 5 for sure.
