While I think of it, there was a brief interview last night on Ch7 with Powell-Pepper.
Strongly built already, had a great Grand Final in the WAFL with 20+ possessions and 4 goals in a losing side, and said that he doesn't care if he gets drafted by an Eastern states club. He said that he will go anywhere and just wants the chance to prove himself to the club that takes him. Also said that the "go home" factor would never be a problem for him.
I would love to have him at Carlton too.

What's going to happen here when we draft Tim English at 5?

Riots?
I'd be happy to have him, but there'd be better players on the board given he is a risk as a starting ruck. If there's clear evidence he can play CHF and his leap is OK, I'd totally get the decision.

Seems like a smart player who works hard for the footy and would develop into an attacking threat that most other talls wouldn't be able to match (again, bar the centre bounce).

:) These interviews are quite revealing!

I was sold on Ainsworth at 5 and Battle at 23 but I've jumped off the bandwagon after hearing both of them! Ainsworth sounds like a lazy type who's only interested in a HFF role and expressed no interest as a full time midfielder. Battle only wants to someone else to take the best 2 tall defenders.
Where on earth did you hear this?

Wouldnt want him or Marshall at the club with any pick inside #10
I'd happily take English in the 6-10 range, Marshall I'm less sure on.

Apparently Marshall played through injury all year and was a midfielder prior to his late growth spurt. Might be better to let him slip through to WCE. Freo may well just snap up English ahead of us anyway because of his mobility and try to turn him into a forward. If it works, it's a genius pick.

Ditto! I really liked him in the All star game, has a real aggressive presence about him. I thought his ball use (which is his knock) was good from what I saw, albeit limited viewing.

I was sitting next to a club scout at the under 18's all star game who was busy taking notes, no idea which club he works for. Bastard kept his notes covered too well for me to get any Intel, despite my best efforts.

I really like the look of Scrimshaw, but my query on him is that I'm not sure he will be a midfielder, I was really hoping they would give him some midfield minutes, but for Carlton I just don't see us spending big on another defender. I do think he is a big chance to be a top 5 pick though, just looks to have so many AFL qualities.

Scrimshaw is all class. Rarely gets beaten in a one on one, strong over ahead and can play forward. I do believe he will transition into a very good midfielder

Listening to Taranto being interviewed by Afl trade radio as I write.
If we give up #5 I will be seriously pissed off.
He hasn't said who he supports but he has said that he models his game on both Parker and Fyfe - get your own ball and get forward to take marks.
Also said that he has met with most of the clubs already for interviews.
We need more first round picks, not less!

I rate Taranto as top 2 in this draft, would be shocked if he was still around at 5.

I agree that he is all class, his over head work really stood out. I just keep thinking of players like Heppell and Fyfe, who weren't playing midfield in the under 18's when I see him.

I just have a few doubts about midfield capabilities, but I really do think he will be top 5, if he does go top 5 then clearly that club believes he can transition into the midfield. I will be really interested to see how his career pans out because recruiters will love him I think.

Scrimshaw is very much an interesting selection, generally recruiters are looking at taking genuine KP or midfielders with picks in the top 10. But, I think he if worth the gamble at 5, due to his class

I would take McCluggage and Taranto in front of him, after that he is in the conversation

Haven't heard anyone say he will go at 2 yet.
Most are saying McGrath and McCluggage are the top 2.
I guess it all depends on who has the first pick and what their needs are

I have him ahead of McGrath.

McGrath has speed and his quick hands are very good.

Taranto can play inside/outside mid and has great vision in traffic. Is strong overhead with great goal sense

Surely this was in regards to where they see themselves over the next few years. Battle's got the right idea anyway: he's nowhere near KPF size.
Last I heard he'd grown to 194cm, that's taller than Jarryd Roughead.

Personally I wouldn't recruit a player to be a third tall - we have Everitt, C Curnow and J Silvagni.

I'll recruit anyone if they can win enough matchup options and help us beat the opposition. Battle's not the top 5 pick everyone was banging on about last year, but he's a very good medium forward who needs a lot of work in the gym if he wants to be a KPF.

See him as a mid 2nd rounder, rate Cox ahead of him

Any combine results so far?
Kicking, hands and goal kicking tests only wrapped up 25 minutes ago according to the AFL Media's article from the other day.

I'm guessing all anyone would have right now is any preliminary results from that and height/weight and reflex measurements.
