A line breaker with speed, agility, clean hands and great disposal for me it's SPS but only if we think he'll stay the course... shame Mcgrath will be gone, been on Taranto for a while too would be happy with him. Brodie may be too much of the same and impact Cripps negatively.

Heard from too many different sources that Brodie has some personality issues. (Does not mean he cannot play, but I would certainly think twice if I was an interstate team.)

Jack Darling.

There are so many incorrect statements in this list of points, I can only assume you're taking the piss.

He has outstanding inside game skills and has the ability to get outside and kick goals constantly.

Skills under pressure are great.

You want a midfielder to go forward, back and midfield.. I am shocked you were upset he did not ruck as well. (Feel free to name a player that plays forward, mid and back to any high level)

The only person that has no clue is someone thinking that 15 beep is not great for a midfielder.
For the third time now: I said inside/outside mix. It's his outside game I'm a little concerned by given he's not a pure inside mid. I'm happy with his inside game, as well as his ability to gather the footy, but I watched him cough it up a bit at the champs.

I want a midfielder who knows more about when to drop back into the team defence, when to close for the tackle/spoil, and when and how far to surge forward. Do I expect that all from a draftee? No, but I'd like to see a player that shows an interest in it. He doesn't show that on the defensive side of things. Mind you, neither does McCluggage or Ainsworth, but their skills are another level.

I dunno about Grimes seems it'd be a step backwards rather than treating list spots like gold, let's develop some of our own. Isn't that the whole idea of a rebuild?

We should be giving Rainbow a chance before considering a has-been like Grimes in my opinion.
Agree on DVR, but you should be looking at the fact that Whiley, Tutt and Sheehan are outgoing before getting worried about Grimes.

Aside from the obvious players available at pick 5, looking at who might be available at pick 23 my wish list in ascending order

Oliver Florent - if he's still there has plenty of speed and X factor, his kicking yesterday i thought was elite, added together with his display in the TAC GF would love to see him kicking inside 50 for us.

Ryan Garthwaite - His a perfect mixture of old school and new school defender. 2 games iN a row now I thought he would've been named iN the best in losing teams

Will Hayward - The SA prospect looks brilliant hopefully he slides and is available

Willem Drew - Again forced into a back pocket but plays his best on ball. Maybe his lack of midfield time wil see him drop.

We could go all out for this year's draft and I'm starting to think we really should.

**** it, let's try and do this:

2017 1st + #41/Graham/Everitt to GC for #6 + #21 (they'll get #6 from Richmond)
Touhy for #17
2017 2nd to GWS for Marchbank (I'm really not interested in getting Stewart, Pickett, Corr etc because it'll cost us our 2016 2nd as well)

Go to draft with: #5, #6, #17, #21 & #23

#5 > Brodie
#6 > Taranto/Scrimshaw (I'd prefer Taranto but would still be really happy with Scrimshaw)
#17 > Venables (Venables could slide given he's missed a lot of footy)
#21 > Berry
#23 > Battle/Kerr

Adding in Marchbank, Brodie, Taranto, Venables, Berry and Battle with only the loss of Touhy would be a huge result. Of course it screws us up for next year's draft though but that's 7 highly rated kids. We could get a 2017 1st by trading our 2018 1st next year.

I didn't expect to see this post from you, but i'm happy to see it. This is exactly what we should be doing.

It should be noted however we can't trade our 2017 1st and 2nd, so we'd have to give #23 to GWS for Marchbank, but i would still love to head to the draft with #5, #6, #17, #21.

I'd even be willing to give #23 and #21 up if the deal was Marchbank, Pickett, Stewart, Corr and (McKenna?)

Whilst i think #21 and #23 has the chance at a quality player. Giving up the extra pick to secure Pickett, Stewart, Corr and maybe someone like McKenna seems like a huge win.

We would only need either Pickett (former no.4) or Corr (former teen) or Stewart (formee #26) to come on and the deal has won itself. If all three come on... jackpot.

I like Powell-Pepper if available with our second.

Yeah forgot about that rule. In that case, we hand over #21 + #23 like you said. As long as we get #5, #6 and #17 I'll be happy.

Just rewatched the U18's All Stars game wouldn't mind getting #7 from GWS.

Maybe our 2017 first rounder and #23 for #7 and the Marchbank combo? They'd still have #15 and #16 to match any bids for Setterfield and Perryman.

out:
2017 first rounder
#23

in:
#7
Marchbank
Stewart
Pickett

End up with something like Taranto, Scrimshaw, Marchbank, Stewart and Pickett. Still with any Tuohy trade and two 3rd rounders up the sleeve.

He doesn't show that on the defensive side of things.
His defensive side is part of what I like about him. Anyway, everyone has different thoughts on players that is what makes it interesting.

At the Champs my main concern with Taranto was his ability to move into the midfield, that is why I did not have him at the pointy end of the draft. Now I've seen him work in the midfield, he is moved up the rankings. He seems to perform on the big stage and lift and perform at each higher level.

I think the best inside/outside player is either McCluggage or SPS. I really love McCluggage because he hits the scoreboard and just knows where to run, his defensive side of the game can be taught. With regards to SPS, I really wanted him to push forward into dangerous positions, but he does not seem to show that knack at the moment.

This draft will be very interesting, there are going to be some interesting ratings this year.

If we get an inside midfielder with our top pick, we could consider a few different options.
Battle, Kerr, Bolton, Simpkin...

Maybe a tallish forward or some outside run.

I really wanted him to push forward into dangerous positions, but he does not seem to show that knack at the moment.

Last year he did that a bit more, kicked some great goals but yeah doesn't get near Mcluggage or Taranto in that aspect.

Even last year I thought that was an area he could improve, just moving into dangerous positions. This year the likes of McLuggage and Taranto have really excelled at pushing forward. Watching the Doggies, they have multiple players that shift between midfield and back. Picken, Dunkley, Hunter, Bonti... They all look dangerous forward.
Non of their midfielders spend more than 70% of the time in the midfield, so it shows their versatility.
