I think it'll be between Brodie and Taranto for 5 unless we really rate SPS and are happy to take a WA product.

Benefits are that Brodie could come straight in, however Taranto could end up the better player.

Obviously not the best comparisons but could be a bit more like a Selwood v Fyfe. If we could take one of them at 5, who would we take?

I'd assume we're taking Jake Bradley as a f/s this year.

Is that correct?
At this point it is still a BIG unknown, but since we can F/S a rookie pick, I'd say there is a very good chance of that happening. Bradley did well enough in the TAC Cup, getting a mention almost every time he played (I can remember once where he didn't). He didn't have a great game playing for the NB Development team (his only try), but the team got flogged that day and NOBODY much impressed.
Athletically he is still producing excellent running results.
He is a much better rookie chance than anyone else at this point.
I do NOT expect him to placed directly onto the senior list. If he gets there, then he will earn it with good games in the VFL.

How much time did Scrimshaw spend in the midfield this year?
A couple of games at the end of the TAC season I think?

Remember that this was a midfield/flank mix of McGrath, Florent, Setterfield, Taranto, Brayshaw alongside him.

Anyone have any highlights from the Futures Game where Taranto killed it? 19d and 4 goals to be best afield in the best side will be fresh in the recruiters minds... could see him going top 3.

I'd be happy with Brodie or SPS. At 25 I really want Zac Fisher. If Zac was abover 180 he'd be rated a lot higher IMO. Really looks the goods.
Has SPS actually played a good game this season? Too inconsistent for my liking and his disposal is over rated.

Brodie for me a 5. It was when he struggled in the second half in the TAC GF that Sandy took over.

His action is sound, it wouldn't be an issue. Pretty much most kids have improvements they make with their kicking. Every year there are only a few handful that are elite, the rest need work to clean up their actions
Just realised, are you talking about SA's Hayward, or the one who played for Sandy in the TAC?

We're extremely likely to go 40/4, with Sheehan being re-rookied and thus just one spare rookie slot, which might go to to DVR.

Is he better than those two?

None he was out of footy a lot over the last two years, bad luck with injuries.
Wouldn't have had the tank to play midfield this year.
The traits he has suggests he could move into the midfield.
Smooth mover, clean hands, hand pass also very good , great through traffic, reads play well, lovely left foot kick.

Absolutely wrapt with our trade week esp now given we know exactly what picks we have

My ideal draft outcome would be:

5: Will Brodie
25: Jordan Gallucci
48: Willem Drew
63:Miles Poholke
66: Hamish Brayshaw

I wouldn't bet on it at this point. His advantages are his athleticism and his youth.
I am quite comfortable that Sheehan will be retained. Injury has really held him back. Not so confident with a few others. I do expect us to make a few more changes to our list.
Basically, if we want Bradley badly enough, he'll be on the rookie list very quickly. If not, he'll be playing with the Northern Blues.

Plus doesn't have the tank for Midfield......some even say doesn't have the desire for midfield expect him to Slide

Now that we've got Pickett would we be leaning to Brodie more than Taranto?
I think Taranto is really capable as an inside and outside mid, not just a flanker.

But Brodie is the pure midfielder we've been crying out to pair with Cripps.

I have Taranto as my fourth most exciting prospect out of this draft, just behind Brodie. So its not an easy decision. But i think Brodie just.

Anisworth still my perfered player. Then Taranto SPS and Brodie.
Feel Anisworth and Taranto would both add to our midfield, but also add goal scoring power to our forward line.
Brodie is a pure mid. Clearance specialist
Just think we need to add more goal scoring power.

Is Gallucci a genuine chance to get to 25? I thought he was rated in the top 20

Prefer Brodie for pick 5. It is a big needs area.

The way things are breaking down now in terms of player movement, really want to avoid non-victorian players when closely matched.

I just don't see it. We're going to delist 5 more, take 6 at the draft and a DFA, then probably look to rookie Kerbatieh in the first round, and Sheehan in the second.

Then we'll call it a day.

Ainsworth is more Stringer than Robbie Gray

He wont add anything to our midfield. He'll be a quality flanker that can drop back and lead up at the ball. And he'll be a decent player doing it. But he's not what we need.

He'd constantly tease with midfield minutes but never deliver what we need

If we were to bid on Setterfield and GWS didn't match the bid would he be worth pick 5??
I'd say very much so. Personally i'd have Brodie and Taranto over him. But then i havent looked at him as much because he's an Academy player.

He's definitely in the top 7, so we wouldnt be hurting us at all.

With Palmer and Smedts in, I'm not sure we take a DFA. I think we'd have to be pretty keen on them.
