Why Beech .......if it's a midfielder required to be upgraded ? .....is Beech or Greenwood the better option ?

I agree both play HFF / Midfield ......both were impressive last season .....could be a toss of the coin

BTW is Beech quick enough for AFL level? ......his style of running makes him look slower, but hard to tell off the TV ?
IMO Greenwood will be kept on the rookie list for one more year. Keeps him as an 'extra player' on the list, in addition to seniors/rookies.

He's a very typical medium forward. Good overhead, good goal sense.

He could play a role in our 22, but is he good enough to become a permanent fixture?
The question is that we don't need a permanent medium forward .......we need a forward who can go thru the midfield ......does Beech have enough midfield nous, tricks, and pace?

Maybe? ......but IMO he has the biggest upside of all our Rookies .....if i was the club, i'd see how both players progressed / developed over the pre-season ......but the club won't have that luxury, as it will need to upgrade a rookie or go to the draft within 16 days .....Damn!

I would say no. That's why I said I think he can play a role in the 22 if needed, but I doubt he'll be a permanent contributor for us.

Oh, I agree. Greenwood has massive upside. I reckon the club knows how he has/will progress(ed) over the course of this year. I reckon they'll be basing their POTENTIAL upgrade on what's best for the list, though - would we prefer to go into 2017 with 45 players, or 46? We might not even upgrade someone.

Sam McLarty with a late/rookie pick entices me
Great talent, would cost next to nothing, great character... and a great story.

Had a poor year (injuries/form etc) but reckon hes has what it takes.

Hmmm, who was it that wanted to bet me that Graham & Scharenberg would get picked before Hayward?

Come on, don't be shy!
Where is Marty moose ???!!!

Sheesh - he was adamant sharenberg would be taken far far earlier

Hayward has weapons to be one of the best players in this draft , I've said it before but screams potential Fyfe ( I realise it sounds ridiculous at this stage )

Does seem to have gone very very quiet.....

Won't be upgrading any rookies, (apparently we are unable to, wasn't there a cutoff point for upgrades, when ROB was moved to the senior list). Will have an extra pick in the draft, around the 90's?

My question is; How many rookies can you have on your list? Can we forgo our last pick and use it on an extra rookie? Potentially 8 new players at the club (if we use all list spots), how long since we had that many?

So we have 7 players that were on our list in 2016 that are no longer on that list.
ROB comes onto the list so that means we have 6 places to fill.
Will we use the draft to fill all the places? or will we upgrade a Greenwood or a Beech?

I'm hoping we pick up a delisted free agent to fill a spot. Grimes from the dees I think is worth a punt. or Jake Barrett from the GWS

Thoughts?

Six selections now, wow
Hopefully we pick up a delisted FA to fill a spot. 6 selections is massive compared to other years.

I think you're better off picking up a delisted FA rather than picking a kid up over the 100 mark in the draft. use the rookie draft for that.

Think you're thinking of in-season? Clubs get to upgrade elevate rookies during draft period using late draft picks .

You can have 44 players in total across the regular rookie and senior lists. 38-40 on the senior list and 6-4 on the rookie list

According to Vader list lodgement for rookie upgrades was two weeks ago when we added O'Brien and re-contratced Beech, Greenwood, Keath to the Rookie list. So it appears we are looking at using that pick 89 or going to the pre-season draft or playing one short on the list.

Oh sorry has the draft been?

Out of these fantastic write ups of these many players on average 35% play in excess of 100 games so that is going to mean 30 out of the 80 will succeed the other 50 will fail, it may be esier to pick the ones who will have no impact than those that will

Did you know that 72% of all stats you read on the internet are made up?

Including that stat I just typed!

Has Clem Smith found a home yet? I was interested in him during his draft but haven't really followed his career. I know he's a WA lad with pace. Might be worth a crack on the rookie list

go on footy wire it will show the numbers on each dradt and how many from each year play 100, those stats are from 2000-2009 bit unfair at looking at 2010 upwards or the percentages would be worse but not justified

Its amazing how many dont make it
