Kid has talent , would all depend on development

Still think we will take someone else
Thinking about it... he's like an outside version of Venables

Both have immense X Factor, both have potential game breaking traits, but both have consistency issues and need to get more involved in games

I personally wouldn't do it (Ven's outside game is definitely better than Cedric's inside game), but I can certainly see Haggis doing it, and I'll trust his decision.

Do you guys rate Perryman? And where will he go? (Academy player I believe).

I rate him very highly. Doesn't have the flash of most of the first rounders but a pure footballer in the Sloane mould. Works inside and out, doesn't lose one on one contests and knows how to operate inside a game. Has that innate game sense that is hard to teach. Will turn out a better player than most guys in this draft.

I think we'll bid on him but will only get him if GWS gets picks taken away by the AFL.

What's your concerns with Gallucci? I'm certainly not trying to pass myself off as an expert on these things at all, but for mine I think he has a lot going for him and has genuine high level potential.
I feel he's worked his way high up the draft board on his athleticism (which is elite) and leadership but in footballing terms I feel his game is pretty stock standard. Rarely has clean disposal under pressure, is not an influencer of games. Think he's a cog in the machine player, which is fine from 3rd round on but a first round pick is a guy you expect to make things happen.

I'd actually really like the thought of Perryman, if we didn't already have Sloane and Laird on our list and in the best 18. Players like these guys are always criminally underrated and more important than most think.

Galluci reminds me a lot of Pittard to be honest. Good athletically with decent skills, but just crumbles under pressure and rarely breaks games open / is damaging with his disposal. The talk of Port being keen on him does have me chuckling a little.

I like Scrimshaw, but the fact that we just drafted Lever has me wondering whether we really need to target him.

Don't forget (it's still very early days) but Jackson Edwards is looking a very good midfield prospect for us. If we rate a bunch of players on a very similar level, do we look at one that plays the game a little bit different to Jackson so we cover our bases?

Yes the club always pumps this "best available" line but surely things like this come into consideration?

I wouldn't consider Scrimshaw a Backmen in the Lever sense . He's more a playmaker that is stationed at half back and he will push up the ground as time goes by, I've even seen him play very well forward

don't think we need to go down this road, for one there's plenty of room in the midfield to not have to worry about leaving room for someone and secondly you're better off stacking similar types that fit your play style anyway IMO.

Melts like when Danger was drafted. And Talia. Fans losing their shit over draft decisions doesn't make the decision bad. Usually it's the opposite.

Oh I agree, there's a reason why you're unlikely to see me go into melt mode come draft day, as the clubs knowledge of the draftees is far, far superior to even the best media and amateur draft watchers.

Yeah, fair enough, guess I see a bit more of a player able to influence games with his ability to break away from stoppages, weave through traffic and break the lines. I like that he's very neat and compact with his disposal and feel this will make it easier for him to tidy up his disposal in time.

To be fair, the melts surrounding Talia were never based on his ability - they were based around the fact that we had an abundance of KPP defenders already on the list, and few people saw the need to add another. Then, as now, the primary need was midfielders, yet the club chose to select a KPD instead.

To be fair, that decision was vindicated when Bock & Davis defected in consecutive years, but the club could not have predicted that at the time.

Nobody ever doubted Talia's talent. He was seen as the 2nd best KPP in the draft.. with Butcher as a clear #1. Oh, how times have changed!

Also, nobody thought that Talia would still be available at Adelaide's first pick. It was almost universally accepted that Carlton would grab him with the pick before ours, noting their dire shortage of KPDs (a problem which has only recently been fixed). Carlton grabbed Kane Lucas, leaving Talia on the board for us to grab.

Looking back, Adelaide really did benefit from some truly awful draft decisions by some of the clubs ahead of us. Fyfe (#20) and Martin (#3) are the only players in the top-20 to have outperformed Talia. Not bad for selection #13.
