Yeah I'm surprised that the listeners rated Wildflower so highly, I thought that was more a case of JJJ pushing the **** out of an album. Strange to see Blonde so low too.

Nice list, would have loved to see S&R make it though. Hate a one song per artist rule! I've got two from Flume and two from Baauer haha
I was very tempted.. and lookint back. I think California may have been release last year anyway.. so i could have fit in another Flume track

Desiigner is a talent.
Bruh...

Has one hit wonder written all over him.

I'm surprised to not see Kaytranada on this list, I would've thought he'd be the perfect mix of critically acclaimed and radio friendly that JJJ would love. Guess not...

Not sure I understand how Soho get top spot here, either. I have plenty of mates who like them, so have been exposed to them a fair bit (even seen them live), and they're okay for what they are, but top album? Nah fam. Benefits of being an Aussie rawk band in a landscape not filled with a heap of them on show there, I reckon.

I'm a big fan of Violent Soho's last album, but WACO is so average. The album list is pretty average in general. If it is a sign of what's to come, I'm glad Laneway is being held on Australia Day.

I went blindly patriotic with my votes:

Impact and Death To The Lads are the only ones I see getting on there. Ah well.

my votes this year...

Violent Soho - So Sentimental
Blink 182 - Bored to Death
Kanye West - Famous
DMA's - Believe {Like a Version}
Illy - Papercuts (ft. Vera Blue)
DZ Deathrays - Pollyanna
Royal Blood - Where Are You Now?
Kingswood - Creepin'
Danny Brown - Really Doe (ft. Kendrick Lamar/Ab-Soul/Earl Sweatshirt)
Luca Brasi - How To Make Gravy {Like a Version}

Triple J is currently over-saturated with Australian music and the quality of the station is suffering as a result. Putting it simply, there just isn't that many good Australian songs released in any given year and most Aussie acts are derivative of prominent overseas artists anyway. My votes...

A Tribe Called Quest - Dis Generation
Bon Iver - 33 "GOD"
Childish Gambino - Redbone
Danny Brown - Really Doe {Ft. Kendrick Lamar/Ab-Soul/Earl Sweatshirt}
Frank Ocean - Pink + White
James Blake - I Need A Forest Fire {Ft. Bon Iver}
Kanye West - Real Friends
Kaytranada - Glowed Up {Ft. Anderson .Paak}
Radiohead - Burn The Witch
Rae Sremmurd - Black Beatles {Ft. Gucci Mane}

Maybe it is, but as a taxpayer-funded national station, that's its brief.

I really don't see the greatness about Adore or Jungle, and as much as I hate to say it, I'd probably rather Never Be Like You to beat both of them, even though I hate that song too.

The Drones eats those records alive.

Adore - Amy Shark pushing for favouritism.

*vomit*

I don't particularly like it, but would honestly prefer it to Never Be Like You. Never Be Like You is so incredibly bland. Flume's latest album is just generally incredibly bland. Some of his older stuff isn't too bad, but his newer stuff was even boring performed live and surrounded by thousands of people gurning for their life (I got dragged along to see him at Laneway).

It's been that way for, well probably forever .

I think they could play better Aussie music. but they tend to hop onto stuff which is derivative of overseas trends that are popular at that time.

Good stuff still gets played obviously, but they have always been too into soundalike bands which in hindsight always seem stupid to how they got so popular in the first place.

Went back and listened to that LP again last night. Not bad. Not bad at all.
It's a grower.
First time I heard it I went meh then it sinks it's hooks in you and stays with you forever.

Tamad Shud and Boredom won me over quickly.

It's the first track on the album that gets better and better with each listen.

This band kill it live also.
They Melbourne Toen Hall show was amazing,they used the Halls massive pipe organ .

Went and saw Dead Sea Arcade at the Howler bar Brunswick a few weeks ago,not really my cuppa but don't mind the song Learning To Fly ,and they were very strong live,really cool band.

Cheers.

The band that played before them,I bumped into the bands singers father who was from Freo and coached back in the day at Sth Fremantle and knew all the Riolis.
