Black Beatles / Rae Sremmurd was voted no.10 in Pitchforks Top 100 Songs of the year.. reckon it'll make the count?

Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Hope not.

**** off. Surely not?
Black Beatles is an interesting track in that its first ~2 mins is really, really good, but then Gucci Mane comes in and kills the vibe a bit, followed by the brother who can't sing or rap doing the same. It's got a great hook and beat though (and the brother who sings is a reasonably talented kid), so it's hard to write it off completely, but it's also hard to really get behind it fully.

Your Hottest 100 votes:
Client Liaison - World Of Our Love
Hilltop Hoods - 1955 {Ft. Montaigne/Tom Thum}
Tigertown - Lonely Cities
Bloc Party - The Good News
M83 - Go!
MØ - Final Song
Glass Animals - Life Itself
Rudimental - Healing {Ft. J Angel}
Kid Cudi - Surfin' {Ft. Pharrell Williams}
Illy - Catch 22 {Ft. Anne-Marie}

Not usually a huge fan of hip-hop but has been some cracker tunes this year. Hilltop Hoods will take it out again.

I'm a fan. As you said. Kills the first two minutes.

Has anyone on here heard of Two Feet? He's got some ****ing amazing tunes i loved this year and wonder if they got a play on the J's.

I'll have a look through the shortlist tonight but just want to know for curious' sake.

Also am I the only one who has completely abandoned radio? I listen purely off of Youtube Acc's like Majestic Casual.

Still vote in the Hottest 100 though like it's a civic duty. I just find my favourite songs off the short list.

I'm voting for Ivy, I thought that'd be at least in the 100? Seems the most single-worthy alongside Solo and Pink + White for mine.

Potentially. Hard to get a reading on it. I think we'll see a few in the 101-200 for frank.
I'm hoping Nights or Ivy places in the 100.

Yeah the first verse and hook is crazy good and then it turns to shit from there. If the first dude went solo I'd listen to his work

The song might not be to your liking but credit has to be given to the video, it's a spot-on homage to Bond films of the 60s right down to the minute details

The Strokes did a similar thing this year!

As I'm not doing a vote count this year, those of you who are interested should follow this guy (I'm assuming it's a guy) @LOOFRunDry on Twitter. He does a live tweet of his data count of Instagram posted votes (up to 7000 already). Last year he counted around 70,000. He answers questions as well.

Something interesting of note from his twitter (he seems to know what he is talking about), some dude asked him if we were going to see a Trump-esque backlash against mainstream/crossover songs, a "JJJexit" he called it. As at the time none of Drake, Anne-Marie or Desiigner were even in the top 100. @LOOFRunDry thought it might be possible, but was more likely just people who vote early already know what they want to vote for and don't need to fill up 10 votes with the only songs they can think of (eg. mainstream hits).

But the more interesting part he said it was possibly due to the rise of music via streaming services rather than via purchase (download/cd).

I think this may play a part as streaming becomes the main way for people to listen to music. Some of the streaming services force variety onto you, so people are exposed to different things that they normally wouldn't listen too if they were only listening to music they actually paid for. As music radio slowly dies especially commercial music radio (which is basically irrelevant to anyone under 40 these days) I think we will start to see a return to the variety in Hottest 100's that we knew in the past (Pre-2012). Some mainstream hits will still make the Hottest 100, but they may not clog up the top 20's like they have been recently. Even the voters who don't listen to JJJ and only vote for big hits will have their horizons expanded some what by streaming of music, as opposed to listening to commercial radio or only downloading the latest hits.

If anyone is this way inclined then there really is plenty of value to be found in these Hottest 100 markets. A couple of pages back I posted about this but there were only two markets (outright winner, and how many Flume tracks in the H100). Now there are about 20 markets. There a few inconsistencies throughout so I'd be snapping them up pretty quickly.

I like what you're saying but Drake was the most streamed artist of 2016. Would you call Desiigner mainstream either? He made a massive track which got mainstream play but it's another one that JJJ played first.

What I'm saying is that via streaming people are exposed to a wider range of songs then they normally would be. So those who listen to Drake via streaming will probably also hear some other stuff that they normally wouldn't and maybe think "that's pretty good, maybe I'll vote for that aswell" diluting the vote of mainstream acts.

I've never placed a bet on anything before, and I don't even entirely know how it all works, but looking at some of those is actually tempting me. I noticed that Sportsbet are bound big on Amy Shark with Adore, and Tash Sultana with Jungle, although I think both might slide down a bit before the end.

This is the results of my mathematical prediction model as of day 1 of voting. As not everyone votes on Day 1, I'll allow the model to continue to create a final prediction after the last day of voting. The 2016 Album Poll results will also change the predictions. I've left out Like A Versions as there is no solid way to gauge their popularity, although I will expect a few to get in like DMA's, maybe Cub Sport or Halsey.
