Bit surprised he was playing soccer, would have thought basketball would have been the go, his physical attributes are just not really suited to soccer.

I think we will see more and more of these type of immigrants playing footy and basketball.

I've always felt that the giants should recruit a player of Sudanese background at some point. Apart from many of them having tremendous physical attributes for AFL (.e.g Majak Daw and Aliir Aliir (I think)), there is a very large Sudanese community in Blacktown. Would be a great way to get some traction in Western Sydney.

He can really play, i'll see if I can dig up some highlights. So athletic.

I wonder if the northern clubs got together and pooled their data in terms of questions asked and answers given by 18 year olds in draft year and did an association study to see if young men who left due to "homesickness" had common answers to common questions.

Could be a very effective tool in looking over potential go homers.

Max Lycnh, Ryan Garthwaite, Zach Sproule and Todd Marshall attended the NAB National Draft Combine in September. As well as playing together throughout the NSW/ACT Rams and Allies they also joined each other each week in the TAC Cup playing with the Murray Bushrangers. Ryan Garthwaite performed well at the Matthew Lloyd Clean Hands Test, finishing first. In the Brad Johnson Goal Kicking Test Garthwaite and Zach Sproule finished equal second. Max Lynch performed well at the standing vertical jump test making the ninth position with a score of 67cm. Although each player is hopeful they will be included on a AFL club list come Draft Night, back-up plans are already being considered. “I’ll probably go back to Corowa and have a year playing with my mates.” Garthwaite said. “If it doesn’t work out I’ll probably head to Uni and play for Bushies as a 19 year old. Or I might even try and go to Melbourne and play for a VFL club.”

Would be interesting but sometimes I think recruiters get so excited by a player they want and just don't see it.

I only needed to see the Jono O'Rourke PICK ME video once to see he wasn't super keen to leave his digs.

With guys vying for number 1 it is a bit different because of all the contractual benefits and sponsorship opportunities it brings. TOYD was never keen to come to Sydney and got out once he got all the benefits and the fat contract. They spin whatever their managers say and you rarely hear them say publicly that they would rather stay at home and I suspect it's the same drill when they meet recruiters.

I was just thinking the other day, something which could be fun is to import a bunch of pre-draft player profiles, and the position drafted. Then use some machine learning to feed in this year's draft profiles and predict this year's draft positions.

Or maybe instead of predicting draft position, predict B&F finishes over first 5 seasons.

But suppose you could also do something similar using the words of their interviews to predict whether they demand a trade to go home.

I must admit when it was spruiked that Tim English was a possibility at pick 2 if Essendon took McGrath I panicked but check out the footage here!

I dont think I've ever seen a 200cm+ person with better skills than this...looks like a polished midfielder!!

He will be a revelation when he strengthens up and has elite AFL qualities.

Likes to get back to the farm to help his dad out once or twice a week.

Nice kid, great package. Massive flight risk.

I reckon Freo take him at 7

Yeah or the Toast with their first if he gets that far. Both need big men long term and he looks pretty special (particularly below the knees). Besides, we already have Flynn as our skinny medium/long project ruckman and he's a year (or two) ahead. Bringing him here has him playing 6th fiddle ruck (not counting chop-out options)

Rangy skinny ruck like that doesn't play for two years with a handful in their third unless injury forces them up. It's all about development. He is way better off being close to home for that.

do you reckon any bid will be matched for Harrison Macreadie?

While I don't think he'll attract a top line bid. I would expect that we will match. Hell, he's already moved up here and helped to win our first premiership. Already we'll part of the club and the rest of the team. I expect him in orange and charcoal next year.

Not convinced by ruckmen whose key features are not-ruckman-like. For every Dean Cox, there's 10 Josh Frasers and John Meesens.
