All jokes aside the PP while unlikely is worth pursuing. Pick 19 more likely than 1 and maybe you just ask for 19 not 1. I.e.: pre second round not pre first. That might seem a strange thing to do but it's highly unlikely we get pick 1 so maybe just put a strong case forward for pick 19. And remember SOS' strategy tends to be to stockpile picks and then deal these to move up the draft a la NFL trading, so pick 19 for SOS is a good asset.

Sam Petrevski-Seton or Ben Anisworth are amazing talents and great addition to any team, too good to give up.
These boys are super stars and a shot at either is important.
I'd love us to have an option to bring in Battle too, we desperately need his attitude and endevour.
This draft and the next are very important for our re build.

Spit on. Those two are elite.
Who's Battle though?

Under the current, stringent criteria, we are no chance for a PP, unless we finish the season stone motherless last with no wins. And even then I'm not confident we'll get one.

Brisbane or Gold Coast are much more likely to get one before us, especially if they suffer another mass player exodus.

Don't like the handout mentality of asking for a PP either. It's not the Carlton way (or at least, it shouldn't be)

Got this information from drafting giude threat and have read same from others sources,
This guy is just what we've ways needed up forward.
But I would not give up a chance at Ainsworth or Petrevski- Seton for him.
I'd try and move Thomas on for a pick in the 12 to 15 range and we may just be lucky.

Josh Battle

Height: 194cm, Weight: 89kg, DOB: 1/9/1998
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays
Position: Key Forward

A great name, and an equally exciting prospect. Josh Battle is a powerful key forward with some serious acceleration that helps him create separation on his opponent. Battle had an impressive bottom-age year, that saw him earn a late call-up into the AFL Academy that toured America this year. Battle has vice-like hands, is strong overhead, and ultra-competitive at ground level. Not one to shy away from a wrestle, Battle keeps his feet in a contest, getting front position before protecting the drop of the ball. The 194cm-teen is courageous in the air, he’s not afraid to hit packs hard to spill the ball for smaller teammates, and conversely can take a strong pack mark. The centre half forward will be the No.1 target for the Stingrays this year, and I’ll be tracking his progress with interest. The sky’s the limit for this kid.

So if by some messed up (0-2 wins) chance we ended up with #1 and #2 do we keep both at the draft or try swap #2 for a player and pick or another 2 picks in the 1st rd?

I personally see us winning 4-5 games and think the afl will scrap priority this year anyway. Hopefully we have some emerging father sons come through as good as some of these academy players we have seen in recent years from the swans.

Bombers have the shit spot wrapped up.

They have no intention of finishing anything but stone motherless.

The AFL will then give them a priority pick and ridiculous compo for any free agents who walk.

It's a lock.

They will not get a priority pick. Imagine how that would look. Lose 12 players because of drug sanctions and then get a priority because they didn't have them. Absolutely ridiculous. Then the 12 players return with picks 1 and 2 and they play finals instantly. I would die.

Carlton would be more likely to get a PP if Essendon come last and get a free agency compo pick as they would not like to kill Carlton to promote Essendon.

It's certainly a worst case scenario and I'm exaggerating when I say it's a lock.

But can you believe the absolute tripefest the AFL and their media flunkies have trotted out since the verdict?

These guys are already martyrs, by years end they and the Bombers will be portrayed as the greatest victims of all time.

I'm selecting my stats i know but who would you rather cripps and mccarthy (both picks in the teens) or boyd (pick one)
My point is in an even draft it might be more adventages to trade out of a top 4 pick.

I'd rather have Weitering than Boyd - and at this stage defina

That is what 70,000 members gets you - respect where it counts ...the money men who run the AFL.

To be honest, Hooker is probably worth band 1 compo and Freo are desperate for more KPP stocks. I think in an open market, pick 10 is probably about Hooker's worth, if we assume they finish last, pick 2 would be slight overs, but no more so than pick #3 for Frawley.

If Essendon can get pick 2 for Hooker, good luck to them, if Kreuzer didn't fail his medical at Collingwood (apparently) we probably would have gotten pick 2 or 3 as compo.

I'm glad he stayed, but Kreuzer was much closer to being a Pie than most people think.

Not a lot jumping out there. Can't see Kieren Jack moving. A lot of older players.

Daniel Rich would be a good addition in the right team. He's still the best medium to long range target hitter in the comp and can find it.

I'm a Chris Mayne fan as well.

Wouldn't bother chasing a free agent at the end of this year. Focus on bringing young talent into the club via trade and the drafts.
There's cause to look for a good KPD if they're available.

Which pretty much leaves the Brown twins and Hooker.

We need more polished midfielders tbh. That's what our picks should be about the next three years.. we have a spine
