Hearing we are looking at 3 mids, using our first on a tall mid from the draft and trading for a couple of quality mids from other clubs.

Any suggestions who the tall mid from the draft will be?

Blue Baggers was it you that suggested that Marchbank & Tomlinson are locks for this year?
If so, how are we going to do all this?

Tall mid? Scrimshaw? Not a mid yet but seems like someone who has mid qualities.

I haven't seen this guy play but would we be interested in Simpkin with our second?
Has been injured for the year but had the profile of someone we could well do with.

Agreed. we have an eddie betts sized hole we are struggling to fill.
We sure are. As soon as the ball hits the ground in our forward line we are dead. The opposition almost walk the ball out.

The GWS fire sale of players for unders is a rare case. They have a number of GWS academy players, that will cost them less coin and need to clear up space.

I don't see why people are not jumping on board getting a group of GWS players for unders to help build our team.

Replace Clem Smith, DVR, Tutt, Jones - Marchbank, Tomlinson, Stewart, Steele....
Well we would be taller...

Farkin hell, if they somehow include T Cloke in a deal with Freo for Ballantyne we are looking at history repeating ala Tarrant and Medhurst.

Cloke better not go back after a few years and win them a flag.
Cloke will be done within a few years.

Prestia has ALREADY been elite in the past lol, jesus christ people rate him lowly

I'm very wary of giving up pick 5 for a midfielder who is 6 years older than any midfielder still available at pick 5. When people talk windows, you've immediately shortened that window by 6 years. Of course there's a chance we might stuff up that pick entirely...

Gold Coast with their academy gold need points more than picks. Let's say we trade Zach to Sydney, then our second (23) plus their second (32) is equivalent in points to pick 10.

We'd replace a half back flanker with a midfielder 3 years younger but cough up our second rounder to facilitate the transaction. Fair?

SOS and Bolts have both said in public that we would target players in Prestia's the age bracket to bring in. That should really settle the matter.

I can understand the hesitation of getting a player like Prestia, around 23 with injury issues. But, we have to balance the desire for truly young talent with the fact that the midfield is terribly undermanned and it is not unreasonable to envisage Cripps wanting out in 1-2 years if he feels he is carrying much of the load in there. Getting the likes of Prestia and Mitchell would help Cripps (and Gibbs and Murphy) enormously.

And I would still say pick 5 is off the table.

Did you even evaluate my trade suggestion?

I am reticent to give up our first pick too.
But, if it is true and in this draft we can get a good player in the 20s and 30s (picks), then if we gave up 4 and got a pick in the 30s in return, in conjunction of course with a Mitchell or Prestia type, then maybe it is worth it - if SOS genuinely believes it is such an even and deep draft then a pick in the 30s is a good pick.
But I am just speculating.

The reality is that in two years time when we start contending the quality first round draftees from this year will be 20 and starting to play well.
Our talls from last year McKay/SOS/Curnow/JGM/need that two years to develop.
We should only get Prestia/Mitchell if we keep our first this year and next year IMO.
So hope the rumours are true as we should have the cash to get both Mitchell and Prestia if we trade up late picks/players.
These mid's are far more valuable to us than Vickery (say $300 - $400K?), Daisy ($650K), etc.

I guess it'll all come out in the wash. If Eade still wants Andrejs then they might hand back a couple of second rounders.

We all are!

Yes. But its built on the perception that you don't want players Prestia's age when Bolts and SOS said that is the exact age bracket they want to bring to the club via trading. I just think that should be our starting point when discussing list management.

Not all the time.
Once in a blue moon someone has some real hard info.
But, even with such info, nothing in the AFL is ever set in stone.

3. Need a full back monster to neuter the tall KPF's - Daniher, Wright, Tex, Mason Cox, Lynch, Patton, Boyd, etc. A Jamo replacement. We have Rowe for two years, then JGM maybe? Add Marchbank if we can afford him as he goes straight into best 22, but is he tall enough?
This a what i'd keep Kristian Jaksch for ..in the 2 games seen him this year he looks a much better suited to negating as a defender then a genuine forward prospect

Bradley is a small lithe player who has his dads aerobic capacity. Playing u18s again, might not be rookie worthy but if he keeps improving could be a two + year project
Check out the reviews of some of his games (I posted some stuff on the F/S Academy board a few weeks back) - starting to show some serious promise #midfieldminutes

Not at all. I just don't think pick 5 is a savvy investment. There are other ways of satisfying a trade, such as with later picks - particularly with an academy club expected to have to use multiple picks to satisfy early biddings.

Serious lack of love for Ed Curnow here. Ed reminds me of Carrots in that he keeps making himself a better player. Not blessed with elite skills, but great work effort and every year he gets a bit better. Would keep him in my list of best 22 for the next 5 years.

There's always a bit of Carrots in there. Even if you haven't had any in six months... :p
