Watching Burton in just his second game it looks like he will be a player. I wonder if we thought we already had McGovern and thought Burton was a similar player?

I don't mind the fact we don't tag

What i don't like is when someone gets off the leash (and they are a known barometer) we don't do much about it. Have to be able to adapt and tag someone, even just for a quarter if we're getting smoked

I believe in tagging when you have players like Mitchell and Dangerfield etc. I've seen it work too many times.

Did Burton even take the mark from the free kick? Just ran off and ump didn't call him back.

He came back just to where the mark was and took off while Schofield was bitching. He has been taught well about playing right to the line.

The ump should have called him back.

Yeah I don't think we need to play a specialist tagger like Sando did with VB for a while there, but you do need to not be blocked from using certain tools just because of some dumb philosophical objection about aesthetics. It's self limiting behaviour.

Unfortunately our opposition don't share our devotion to being guardians of the aesthetics of the game.

We do more than any side to make the game attractive. Running a tag against our direct top 4 competitors when they have little midfield depth won't kill the game
