A 15 year old kid who gets an opportunity to earn even $10 an hour let alone double time $20 should definitely be down on their knees and forever grateful to those who make it possible. That there are 15 year old kids who need to be doubly compensated for working because otherwise they could be free on the weekend, - sheesh, I hope their future jobs don't interrupt their social life.
I don't think we will agree, so no point arguing ;)

Didn't have to wait long
...for the comedy show to start.....

Way better than being full of what the Port board is full of.;)

Cop this for a "who's on first" routine ....
Cathay Pacific are already China Sponsors.

No they are not. They are members of the China Power Club only.

It wouldn't matter much if they weren't, it's not worth much financially to the Club, but still worth space on an inside website page showing members' logos in miniature - minimal exposure in return for minimal premium.
Now, can I please get on with my breakfast?

But they are on the China Partners list. Which is the China version of our Corporate Partners going by the language used by our website.

Partners = Sponsors.

No they aren't, well not in all cases.

TeeLee Travel don't sponsor PAFC, however they have a partnership in regards to travel for Shanghai.

Cathay could be working out a similar deal.

I think we're all being a little pedantic here.

Joint Major Partners - Premier Partners - Principal Partners - Key Partners and Supply Partners - Charity Partners

We call sponsors partners.

throwing everyone of the scent...or not?

Do you mean this airline thingy is just a storm in a teacup?:(

C'mon mate .. you can read! They are NOT a partner (at this point), the list clearly says they are China Power Club MEMBERS. As LR mentioned, that doesnt amount to much financial gain from the club. But, it is part of the "process" of doing business with China.

A fascinating journey!

Airline thingy ..... love it!:D

Having been an employer for many years, good luck getting any young ones to commit to anything even at $42 ph on Sundays. It's sriusly, like, all about them....

Is there a shift where you think the premium would be fair? Out of interest, what happens at your local 24hr petrol station when the overnight worker wants to change to day shift? Is it purely the most family orientated? What if the night shift person has punched out 3 kids and the family guy is down to 2 because his eldest has moved out. What happens when no one is prepared to work shift work? I've only seen a handful of EBAs in my time, but every single one that handed back penalty rates for an increased flat rate included a clause regarding fairness in rostering.

I could understand to an extent why you'd be happy to can penalty rates. What I can't understand is why you want to spread them out with the sole purpose of benefitting a certain type of person. If you don't accept the premium is warranted, shouldn't the day shifters continue to earn the same and the penalty earners drop back to day rates? You're almost running a 'their gain is our loss' argument.

You've got it the wrong way round.

It would be about NOT advantaging a certain type of person, as currently happens

Port have been chasing dragons in China for four years and not one sponsor for their Football Program.

It is great for our State economy though and any SA business who wants to open up a dialogue with China. They literally are a sideshow that opens doors for business between the two economies.

Just not great if you are a rank and file member who just wants to see their club win games of footy....

That advantage is available to all though. How do you plan to differentiate between the types of people.

I understand your scholarly musing, but I'm interested in gaining an understanding as to how you expect this to work in practice.

In practice I've implemented in 3 different large organisations :)

There is no differentiation. You have work and people who either want to do it or not.

what often happens is that the people on the highest loadings often leave and are replaced easily enough

Emphasised after depreciation which I believe is a crack at us, should be interesting to see what ours is. If we bury it Xmas eve it won't be good.

You cant really compare the two clubs financial results side by side.

They don't pay any AFL Equalisation tax, we pay about $330k. They also don't pay the ticket levy which is another $300k. As others have said they have had salary relief with two drug cheats salaries removed. These three items give them at least a $1m difference between us through AFL policy.
The flipside is they have two pokie licences bringing in revenue at two venues. We have none.

The business models of both clubs are quite different.

The bottom line is that the AFC are the stronger of the two when it comes to financial matters. We no doubt also had to sway the AFL that we could afford a stable womans side.

As long as it doesn't become a Night-Mare.

If Port posted a $14k profit, that means they would have had a ~$1mil loss if they had to pay Monfries and Ryder.
You think Port didn't pay the mimimum amount required by the AFL?

Have no fear Port have brought forward contracts to use the extra space and free up space for next year

They also have to keep Ken Hinkley as coach. Clubs on hand outs are not allowed to pay out coaches salaries. He is contracted till 2018.
