Draft Review 2016 - Revisiting the 2016 AFL Draft

He got an eye injury early in the game.

Bolton aside, it's a shame clug choose not to turn up for the one game that mattered.

Football is more refined than just looking at kicks and handballs.

You talk like a 12 your old or a bloke at the game watching his Sportsbet app

Ahhhh - the old "he was injured"card. Desperate times hey??

McCluggage polled coaches votes in 2 out of the 3 finals he played this year. Maybe the coaches look for more than just kicks and handballs?

You post like your bliasee. Doesn't get much worse than that.....

Praised clug many times in the discussion, so it's fair when he stinks it up in the game that matters.

Best if you stopped replying with your dribble
Speaking of stinking it up, Bolton can take that crown with his 10 disposal 0 tackle effort in the game that mattered. The elimination final.

The same game where McCluggage was close to best on with 26 and a goal.

bliasee - who claimed bolts was pretty good. While you clowns were carrying on.
Prior to bolton finishing top3 in the Afl MVP. Hmmm.

I am merely saying by only focusing on kicks and handballs you lack the minutia to make a proper conclusion.

More so when discussing the most exciting player in the game according the afl media

Yet you use the fact that he had 17 touches to conclude he had a bad game.

Make up your mind, you either value stats or you don't.

Yeah the poster that in banned for being a peanut.

Everyone thinks he is a super talented yet an inconsistent player. His inconsistency is not only week to week but from quarter to quarter. But we all know he can light up a game and do some freakish things.

This from the AFL media. Exciting player that doesn't work hard enough - its what most of us have been saying.

Bolton was restricted to just three touches in the second half as Starcevich refused to allow him out of his sight. In a game that needed someone to step up and take control of it, the Brisbane defender flat out refused to permit Bolton to adopt that role.

Maybe had Bolton been a little more willing to do some of the harder work, or maybe if he was willing to work back into defence a little more when starting in the middle (he attended 26 centre bounces), he could have had more of an influence, because drifting forward immediately, though it had worked in the past, did not work against this opponent.

So how did bolton come top 3 in the afl most valuable player award.

If he is "inconsistent"? Give us your best shot of answering this question

You talk more doublespeak than the 1984 book.

He finished the year strong and his flash was good. But for consistently he wasn't in the top 10 in the AFL coaches votes or the top 20 in the Brownlow - which both reward consistency across the season.

Between round 8 and 17 he got 2 of the 240 coaches votes. That's a big chunk of games.

No one isn't saying he is a good player - but he can go missing and his last final is proof.

He is like the little girl with the curls who's good is very very good but his bad is horrid.

Season 7 now beckons for this lot.

First full time captain from this draft has been achieved with Jy Simpkin getting the nod at North Melbourne.

This draft also has its first 3 clubber in Will Setterfield.

Let's go.

4 premiership players for this cats from the 2016 draft in Parfitt, Stewart, Henry, and Z. Guthrie. Another cat B pick up in Mark O'Connor is a premiership player. Zach Tuohy also traded in for 6 total premiership players added in the period.

Of 10 draftees taken, 7 are senior listed footballers somewhere, including all 4 rookies. Good strike rate given they're now 7 years in.
