was referring to their supporters , but i agree . Still its fun watching the meltdown
Yeah I know the expectations of what most Hawthorn supporters wanted and what they got was fantastic. I think after the shock of losing Mitchell for nothing I think a lot of hawthorn supporters were expecting a lot more. I'm pretty sure I saw 2nd rounder and strecth on their board lol. Don't get me wrong we won the deal but I think at this point in lewis career and the fact that he wanted to get traded I think any club would of done the same thing.

What about pick 29 and 68 for Hibberd and 59. points wise it means Hibberd is worth about pick 33

Then on trade 59 and Dunn for collingwoods 47 which rates Dunn about pick 59

Then next years first and 57 to gold coast for our first back (8). which works out to be worth pick 10 point wise

So then we go into draft with pick 8,47 while picking up Hibberd and Lewis and losing next years 1st and 29 and some other shit.
It was all a dream

Its a little too early to get crunk methinks.

I don't hate the first part of your mega-dealings. That could potentially work.

It would not suprise me if they don't try to pull something like this off especially if they have a player in mind.

Ok so I have a question.
Has anyone seen a quote from Hibberd himself stating he is "happy to stay"?
There seems to be a lot of talk about Hibberd being "happy to stay" at Essendon. All I have heard reported is that he would have to stay as he is contracted, a far cry from actually being happy to stay.
Most of us would have seen the Lewis presser today where he came out and basically said that there is no bad blood between he and the hawks. If you believe that, then you are being extremely daft.
Players have to say these things to protect their image or in Hibberd's case, the trade falls through and he's stuck there. A lot of bombers supporters should perhaps reword their statements to read "I'd rather he stay and leave for nothing next year, rather than take next years future".

You're right, happy to stay might be a stretch, but I think it was something he said on trade radio. I remember reading the report of it at the time. Closest I can find is this. Not much to it really, and now I think it will get done regardless.

"Hibberd said he hopes the Bombers and Demons are fixtured to face-off in round one next year, as Essendon has requested, so all suspended players can return at the same time.

"If it happens it would be nice to be out with all the guys who have missed a year. Whether we're on the same team on not it'd be nice to be together," he said.

Edit – this too, though the headline is different to the content.

“If a deal doesn’t get done, hopefully they let me back because I’d still like to be playing footy,” Hibberd said at the launch of NAB AFL Trade Radio.

“I want to be playing AFL football. These things tend to get done more often than not.”

OK, I'm getting greedy now - I want us to get another big name across. 36 hours to go for Taylor, Viney Snr and co to strike again...

Can't see it given Collingwood need points for father son selections. If a trade is to be made, it will be for a late pick that has no points attached
Dees won't go for it, plus he's contracted, plus Collingwood have more picks coming with the Witts trade.

Could still be a chance with Rockliff. The 2016 2nd round pick that Essendon want may well be earmarked for Rocky which would explain why you are pushing your 2017 2nd rounder. Rumour is that you are still keen but his salary demand and Lions' reluctance to pay a big enough portion of his salary are the stumbling blocks. All this from Zanotti files so big wedge of salt but sort of makes sense. We are definitely looking to offload him and your pick 29 would do it. We always knew that salary would be an issue with a Rocky trade. Anyway, if it happens good for you and good luck for the upcoming season. Expect you will play finals well and truly now.

Do you honestly think pick 29 would do it for Rocky? I know he's got some 'issues' but that seems significant unders for a player of that talent. I'd do that without hesitation.

Keep in mind that he supposedly wants in excess of $800k IIRC.

I don't see why we won't give up this years 2nd.

Last year we traded out of this years draft because we didn't rate it.. now we're saying next years is worse and this one has good depth through the 2nd/3rd rounds?

I think we will, eventually. We're just playing hardball.

Probably require either of your later picks too (for our academy players) but yeah I'd reckon the main obstacles to a deal at the moment are around the money not the pick.

So we don't enter the draft at bloody 57

Few "experts" and i use that term losely, were saying that a pick around the 30 mark would satisfy Brisbane with Rocky. Seems that it would be hard for him to continue on playing at Brisbane so I suggest there will be a few offers thrown up tomorrow to see if they take one.

He will probably have to consider if he wants to move then he needs to drop his asking price.

Is there anywhere else this Rockliff talk is coming from apart from 'land and bf? I havent seen anything to even suggest we are looking at him.

Regardless, get Hibberd done and im stoked with our trade week.

I don't think it was that we didn't rate the whole draft as much as we didn't rate the Key Forwards. We wanted our cake and to eat it to with getting Oliver first up, and then having our pick of the remaining Key Forwards.

I'm ok with us doing whatever we can to keep that first pick at 29 ... it won't work tho, but can't blame us for trying

Its been brought up about 6 times on Trade Radio this week, and also with Mahoney yesterday, the answer each time was an emphatic "not happening"

I'm with you, Hibberd comes in and we've crushed it ... again

When you have Jason Taylor the pick number is insignificant. My man will find gold in the 3rd and 4th round. :thumbsu:

Just give Dildo his precious 2nd rounder and be done with it.
