We finish bottom despite winning another game or two.

Port bombs out first week of the finals.

Rocky is tempted by a crazy offer and moves to Adelaide. The AFL gives us tier one compo and a high five.

Raynor has an impressive finish to the season and is a clear number one. We get the feel he is a bit of flight risk. St kilda, desperate for star power offer us their two first round picks #9 and #10 for #1.

Cameron nominates us and we back ourselves in offereing our 2018 second rounder.

Leaves us picks #2, #9, #10, #13, #19 and a couple of later picks if needed.

End up with Dow, Coffield, O'Brien, Counstable, Ballenden and of course Cameron. Potentially 5 first round picks if Ballenden is bid on in the first. We would almost be at G.W.S levels of talent!

Anyway back to reality.

Rocky decides to stay (again a good thing really).

Ballenden kicks another couple of bags in the NEAFL including 7 in the Grand Final (another great thing).

Adelaide insist on Ports Pick or our second for Cameron.

Leaves us with #3, #17/20 and some later picks.

Carlton or North bid on Ballenden at pick and we match with #3. We use #17/20 on someone like Clarke or Worpel.

His link up play and run was very good, disposal at the end of it was a little sloppy at times. And went missing a bit in the middle of the game. But an encouraging performance.

Cant blame any first gamer (or really anyone in their first season) for going missing especially in an away game to Perth. But there were more than enough signs that he could be a good player for the club

Ran out the last quarter pretty well after a quiet second and third IIRC. Was pretty encouraging.

Think we will and hopefully another with Ports pick. When Stef is finished and our midfield has been built through a couple of drafts I hope we get a ruckman (trade) who knows the art of tapwork to assist OUR mids and not everyone else's (rant over).

I was thinking this. Also defensive running is a big weakness.

Could be that beams & Rockliff aren't 100% and it's effecting their ability to get on the inside and win the clearances, but shows we need more depth in that area.

So question for the draft watchers, of the top 10-12 who are the ones best at clearances & best at running defensively?
