Anyone think that given our window is open right now that we might draft someone ready to go with a mature body? I mean it'll be hard for any of our draftees to break in to the side next year but if injuries hit it'd be handy to have another youngster ready to go

I think we will get Hayes with pick 17. Usually get a player with names ending in N or S with our first. (7 out of the last 10 years).

He’s a really level headed kid too, did private training with Jacob Weitering over the summer. Alas I think he’ll be gone by our pick.

Also, how good are Mount Martha junior footy club going. Weitering, Whitfield and now Hunter. Two number 1 picks and possibly another top 10 in five years. Awesome work from the guys down there.

Buckenara says: Naish gives the top end of the draft some genuine pace and he loves to tuck the ball under his arm and take them on and with his penetrating right-foot kicking, is a combination that will be attractive to all clubs. The Richmond father-son prospect (his dad Chris Naish played 143 games for the Tigers) would be a great fit for them and when a quality father-son pick comes along it is dangerous to overlook them, especially if they end up at another club and become a star. A first-round bid will come for Naish and I have no doubt Richmond will match it. He has really developed and impressed this year.

SEN draft guru (his name escapes me) was saying this week that mechanically the kicking style is very good. Perhaps because he is such a penetrating kick he might try and go for kicks that lesser players wouldn't attempt, resulting in turnovers.
I have only ever seen him on TV -highlights packages and u18 nationals- so I am making a few assumptions.

That's the only reason I can think of for swapping 3rds with Geelong.
One pick in the 50s for a project and the other for Smith.

Yeah but it's been rather useless as he can never find space to get the ball. Even Townsend has looked more likely, he uses his body better and gets out on a lead.

Either way, steer clear. Allen is a shocking kick and there's no room in our forward line for another shocking kick.

For sure. I reckon only Coll and Freo will be wanting a tall with their first pick. They might even go for a back but most likely forward. Only 1 or 2 other clubs may take a tall but most likely backman. Most other clubs have plenty of talls and will be aiming for mids early. Should be able to grab a couple of pretty good tall forwards from picks 17-25
