List Mgmt. 2017 draft thread

Pretty sure the notion our picks get upgraded due to extra points has already been proven false
Some have claimed it as false, but I'm not accepting comments on a forum as actual proof as I still think it makes no sense

Last year Bowes was picked with Pick 10 and GCS matched with Pick 11 so they had a deficit, however they had no more list spots after their 4 selections (and another academy pick at the end of the draft) so we can't use that as an example of what happens as they got no pick upgrades, nor a pick in return.

Every other academy selection (except Jacob Hopper who was only 13 points in credit with no impact on pick position) has been taken with much later picks so it hasn't been raised before.

Is Hayes this years Grundy? Was talked up as top 10 most of the year but is now looking like a 15-20 selection. I would love him with one of our picks
Smells like Vickery to me. Tell me why he isn't, Bishop . Has the campaigner ever taken a contested mark?

Hayes 20+ prospect. Running is absolutely woeful (endurance) + GPS stuff is the worst in the TAC Cup. Definitely going to slide I feel.
But you think we're into him at 20? Would much prefer Balta.

This Fox Sports article explains it best: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/af...m/news-story/2336f3c1b618638b6f5637bab62676fd
... and yes I know that Fox is not exactly the most reputable source out there, but as usual the AFL website itself doesn't appear to have the exact rules posted anywhere.
GWS took 10 picks to last years draft, got Taranto at 2 and then used 9 more picks to match bids for Setterfield, Perryman & Cumming. But then they also picked up Tiziani & De Boer late, these 'extra' picks must have been added with leftover points from those bids.

Not sure who said that we were being linked to everyone......but you know, I don't care. It serves as a great smoke screen to other clubs & me likey. Keep them all guessing.....;)

We've been linked to Scott Jones from WA with a late pick/rookie - to me that suggests they might not take Hayes & take a ruck later... Time will tell, I'll follow it up. Know they've done a lot of work with Balta.

Whilst we all want to fill voids on the list im hoping we always go best available player with every pick, I would hate to have an Adam pattison when a Luke Parker is there to be selected. Only if a talent is extremely close you should go needs

Draft for talent and trade for needs, 2017 has proven to us all that talls are not the be all and end all. But i do like the look of Bonar he really does look like that Big Bodied mid thats fast and agile - Explosive is the word i think of when thinking of him.

If true stay well away.
Will not get a kick at AFL level.

Is that bloke dominating the WAFL?
22 year old and ready to play?

Is Balta a Croat?
One of my apprentices has that surname.

This PDF http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/AFL/Files/Father-son-bidding-system.pdf
is the best I can find, but it comes from 2014 !
It has an (hypothetical?) example of Darcy Moore getting a bid at pick 5 and Collingwood matching with pick 6.

Pick 5 = 1,878pts 1,878pts x 80% = 1,503pts
Maximum of 20% discount could be applied to value of Pick 5 – Collingwood owe 1,503pts
Pick 6 = 1,751pts. 1,751pts – 1,503pts = 249pts
Collingwood get Pick 5 for Pick 6 and no more points are owed
– draft order is updated
Note: Remaining 249pts are not used by Collingwood

It just has this note at the end with no further explanation. Their next pick is definitely not upgraded by the remaining 249 points, but they also don't get it made into equivalent points pick 52 which is what I believed happens?
Surely I'm not the only person interested in this, WHY CAN"T THE AFL JUST MAKE IT CLEAR ??

The uncertainty allows them to make the rules up as they go.

Heard we're looking to use a pick on a tall forward named Durry O'Neil.

Has a Gaelic football background.

Not too sure how it works but he's sneaking under the radar, will go very late in the draft.
You could say he,s a real smokey.

This season has been so similar to the Doggies last year.I,m expecting it to continue in the draft. The Woofers with their 1st pick selected Tim English(ruckman).
Welcome to Tigerland Sam.

What do we think of Holmes from the Saints? Just been delisted after 3 years there. Nothing more than average tap ruck but has a lot of heart (having played a season in the 2s & still keen on a crack at the big time) & we'd get him for ultra cheap you'd imagine.
