Are six clubs as well not playing down there?
Did we lay there in 2013, 14, 15?
I'll explain it .... scheduling has a lot to do with putting the A-grade games in prime time and at bigger venues.
Richmond v Geelong is not prime time.
Was it fair we played eight Friday night games in 2016? At everyone else's expense?
You cop some good with some bad. Suck it up!
We're not immune to missing out like every club does; or getting the good when it comes.
Ill make it easier for you.
We haven't played there since 2012.
Essendon hasn't played there since 1993.
Essendon v Geelong is even less of a prime time game than Richmond v Geelong.
Which team do you think should play there next?

And we played 6 Friday night games, not 8. 8 was in 2015.
And yes it was fair, as the fixturing shows when you finish high (as we did in 2015), pull big crowds (as we did in 2015) and perform well on the big stage (as we mostly did in 2015) you get prime time slots. 2016 we didn't do those things, so we lose our prime time. Thats fair, nothing wrong with that.

The playing at Simmonds is not fair or balanced. We play there regularly for while other teams don't. And if you could give a reason why, other than suck it up that we be great, because thats all I am looking for.

So 14 Friday night games in two years ... and we're complaining about one trip to Geelong?
How mnay Friday night games did the Bulldogs play last season? Giants? Successful clubs right?
I say our fixturing has plenty to do with how we play ....... that awful, unattractive, sideways, backwards clusterf***, which has cost us prime time.
Hardwick might sit there and laugh after the St Kilda game about how crap a spectacle it was, but it's cost us at the box office!
PS I 'd pay to see Essendon v Geelong over us v Geelong any day!

You are aware that this is the Richmond board? Except for you, just about everyone on the board doesn't care if it is their preference. most think it is a stupid decision. What part of that don't you understand. Oh wait, its 74. Understanding of the important issue doesn't seem to come into it.
He is not the only one because it is their home game and the MCG is our home ground at the end of the day.

Put it this way. Complaining about Geelong hosting us at Simonds Stadium is pretty much complaining about Geelong not hosting us at our home ground. We complain when it happens to us (at Etihad against North Melbourne in 2015) yet we demand Geelong to do the same for us?

If they are fine hosting us at the MCG then OK, but at the end of the day their home ground is Simonds Stadium.

No? Im complaining that there is no apparent rule or reason to it. Unlike other fixutirng which may be 'unfair' but its based of attendance, rivalries or how good the team is expected to go. This however seems to be based off ............??????????? Not crowd number. Not membership. Not caliber of team.
So why?

Maybe respond to the actual question this time. Why doesn't Essendon play there? Or Carlton?

Again no? Giants didnt make finals in 2015, Dogs made it but have low crown numbers and it was widely expected that they would drop out this year.
And yes I'm sure you would, you seem to hate Richmond with a passion so I doubt you would go to any Richmond games.

Because Geelong requests its home games v Essendon and Carlton be played at the MCG; it makes no such request for us. Dig?
2017 is Geelong's home game v us and they requested it be played at Simonds Stadium, THEIR home ground. DIG?
That would mean we have played Geelong as our home game at the MCG in 2014, 15 and 16.
They do deserve a home game against us at some stage, yes?

wow. Do you actually think Geelong requests to play Essendon and Carlton at the G? HAHAHAHAHHA. You are more delusional than I thought. BTW where did you get this info from? Any sources? Im guessing no.
Carlton hasn't even played Cats at the G since 2010, all there games are played at Ethihad. But Geelong requests to play Carlton at the G do they? Shows how much you bullshit in all your comments.

Heres what actually happens. Geelong asks to play EVERY home game at Simmonds
So once again, why hasn't Essendon played there for 24 years? Carlton 19 years? Collingwood 17 years?

I guess you missed the part I said in the last comment and the one before that about I dont care if we play down there, as long as every other team does as well. GET IT?

I've just spent 10 minutes analysing our draw and I've come to the conclusion that we're going to win the flag.

So Geelong's reasks they play all 11 home games at Simmonds Stadium??????

From The Age newspaper ... October 24, 2016

Geelong have expressed their disappointment at a tentative 2017 fixture which has handed the club seven home games at its newly renovated Simonds Stadium – one less than the Cats specifically requested.

Chief executive Brian Cook was meeting the AFL this week as the deadline to next year's schedule approached in a bid to convince head office to grant his club eight home games at the club's fortress over the final 13 rounds of the year.

My fav was this bit.

Brian Cook said they were pleased to host Richmond in the new venue and he hoped the ground would eventually attract games involving Carlton and Essendon.
But but but but but I thought they asked to play them at the MCG?? Seems like they want to play them at Simmonds. Yet they havn't in a decade.

I think they want to play all 11 home games down there, but the AFL still schedule Geelong home games against the bigger drawer clubs at Etihad or the MCG.

Thats what I dont get, which part puts Collignwood higher than us?
40k v 44k average attendance last year.
72k v 74k members.
13th v 12th on the ladder.

They are a tiny bit above us in everything, so close its pretty much even. So why do they get to play 3 extra games at their home ground?

Because they have a president who won't take shit from the OFFAL

I live in country Victoria ..... it takes me less time to get Geelong than it does the MCG.
But seriously, people whinging. It's a boutigue stadium - and nicely done - that holds 30,000 people, about 45 minutes from Melbourne.
You would think people had to travel to f***** Nathalia or Yackandandah to a ground that holds 14 cars.
We haven't played their since 2012 and people are acting as if the world just ended.
Its a hole with an above average number of outspoken rascist trash

You mean stupid enough to force us to play geelong at their home ground for their home game?

Are you seriously suggesting the cats don't have the right to play their home games at home? Seriously?
Agree but just as long as the dons, pies, hawks, blues all do their fair share of same match up at the venue.

Lol, why not ask to play no interstate games while youre at it
So now requests by other clubs mean nothing, but the cats requests need to be adhered to? The point is, the AFL has given the cats request a priority over ours, which is fair enough. But in the same breath, they should also reject the cats request, and schedule another bigger club in geelong as well. All im saying is play down there, not problem, but just as long as others do too.

The only match I can see after round 8 is the Hawthorn match which is a Geelong home game at the G.
Given the recent history between the two I think that is fair enough.

Given how crap we have been over a long period of time I don't think we can complain too much at this stage.

I think we need to wait for the 2018 draw and see which teams don't have to travel there then.
