You don't think any of the guys have circumstances that means they'd prefer to play for GWS?

My point with Hopper is that I think he should be backing himself in to be best 22. Make no mistake we made a huge investment in him, people don't see that because he was an Academy selection but he cost a lot of points which could have been used on another player.

I think he has an inflated opinion of his ability.

The inflated opinion might come from his draft position.
That being said, has family ties in the Geelong area, a late first rounder would get it done...

Its not an inflated opinion of himself if another club offers a first round pick and extra $$$ to get the deal done. Its like any career though isnt it? If someone offers a better deal most people would look after #1 wouldn't they?

Outside of sport mostly although I've got to say I've personally been offered double what I'm on and stayed because I enjoy where I am and the role I have. Money isn't everything.

At our club most of our list have from time to time been tempted with more money and opportunity and most have stayed for less.

Mateship and loyalty are still pretty important factors to most players as well as the probability of success.

I left a job for about 10% more money and I'm not sure I'd do the same thing next time. My new colleagues weren't as good as my old colleagues, the work was less interesting. But money tho. So it's close.

Double the money = goodbye in almost any circumstances

I think that is certainly the case for most people outside of sport but in sporting teams it's a bit different. Most of the guys are extremely well paid, I have several players as clients and they spend most of their time snapping up investment properties and luxury items. They are elite, professional and deserve it but it's also great to see loyalty.

A lot of my school mates ended up in professional fields and earn big dollars but many of them are not happy. A few have even offered to give up their jobs and work for me for a fraction of what they earn.

For the Giants the challenge was all about setting a great culture and a successful team. Now that we have both we can see most of the lads buy in, but some will always put self interest first.

Notice that as soon as the lads get a gf their urge to go home dissipates.

We need to strike up a JV with RSVP and just keep getting the boys on dates until they get hitched!

Surely we can find a nice Sydney based girl for Josh Kelly?

Been told by reliable sources that Devon smith will join the Cats in the first week of the period. Cats are extremely confident of a deal involving Pick 20 to GWS

Keep that confidence, it may well be a useful life lesson.

Good Stuff!

I just got off the blower to Craig Cameron and he told me he is pretty chuffed that Geelong have agreed to send Dangerfield our way for our 2018 2nd rounder.

The clubs are looking after each other and getting business done :thumbsu:

Then your not a quick learner. Devon Smith is not a second round pick in a trade deal. As sure as the Sun rises in the East.

Well we have been shafted before man
most Geelong fans rated Caddy as a first rounder or Kersten as a late second round.
Doesn't always work out man

If you get shafted, ultimately that a matter for you. We wont be. Devon's already said he wants to stay, and we have a place for him anyway. Clearly Geelong fans dont understand his value to a side.
Edit: Everyone raves about Kelly and he is very good. Guy like Smith, Scully and Whitfield are very valuable outside mids though.

I'm going to the game Saturday night so might get some more info...

Kelly - no idea, I'm totally confused and probably Josh is as well!
Smith - down to Kelly, club have low balled his offer. Kelly leaves the offer increases and it will get done
Hopper - as good as gone (Geelong?)
Kennedy - ??? I see him as player 24-28. depends where he sees himself!
