I reckon if we trade gibbs, we should use the first rounder we get for him on Stringer. Stringer has issues off field but if club thinks he can be managed and helped then he comes cheap. Real match winner on his day. Only 23 yrs of age so in our demographic.

Say Lever goes to Melb for their first round pick, Adelaide on trade to us + 2nd rounder for Gibbs, we trade first rounder (originally melb) for stringer.

Maybe we can proportion some of his salary to his rehab clinic

No clue. Gibbs is best 18 in every AFL team.

Definitely better than Greenwood and Douglas by a long way, but i can see their side of things if they want to argue Sloane and now Matt Crouch are better and younger. I still think Gibbs is a better individual player than them as well, but can see their side of the argument with Sloane's influence and M Crouch being AA this year.

Gibbs is as good as Sloane but different players. Gibbs going to Crows will make Sloane & Crouch brothers Douglas better and be the cream. Greenwood has been good but not even close to Gibbs

IMO SOS doesn't pick him if he believes he can't develop into a mid. If not Dow LDU Cerra or Stephenson our best options

Can't do that and they're different types anyway.
SOS will pick the best player, unless it happens to be a KPD.
We just need mids but won't pass on an exceptional talent. Is Rayner exceptional though?

Gibbs would be top 5 or 6 in every team in the comp name one he wouldnt

I think Gibbs is a great player, but the general consensus on the Crows board is that he's below Sloane and MCrouch. Further, BRouch has been monsterous over the last month. So if he continues with the rate of improvement, Gibbs will behind him also. So at best, Gibbs will be the 3rd best Mid at the Crows.

With the emergence of greenwood (below Gibbs) and the significant improvement from the crouch brothers, the need for a premium Mid just isn't as high as it was last year. Hope that gives this board some perspective from our end.

If you don't win the flag this year then you will go hard for Gibbs. If you win it there may be a lesser need for Gibbs. Gibbs going from a no.2 at a weak carlton side to a number 3 or4 midfielder at the crows - he would dominate

I'd be more than happy to keep him. If Gibbs trade talks resume this year between Carlton and Adeliade, I'd expect SOS to be starting somewhere around the Lever pick plus their 1st and I'd expect Adelaide to start somewhere around just their first, but if a middle ground was met and we were offered their Lever pick and it was around pick 10, I'd be disappointed if SOS didn't take it.

Just don't think SOS will do it. Be a massive turnaround

You're giving us pick 17 for our best midfielder, who's contracted, and where we lack depth and experience.

If I was Adelaide, would I use pick 10 on Gibbs? Probably not. But to us, that's what he's worth.

This is a trade that's unlikely to work based on the set of circumstances above. Nobodies fault.

You'd get 10 and a 2nd or 3rd for Lever.

17 for Gibbs is HIGHLY unlikely to get it done.

I think we would do 18 and 19 if we were going to on trade one or both of the picks. We may even pay some of his salary
