Important question. Who are our leaders?

Murphy, Simpson, E. Curnow, Docherty and Cripps stand out as the pick of the bunch from the older guys.

Younger guys emerging as leaders include Weitering, Plowman and SPS.

Plowman is probably an older guy now...

I think this is one of the benefits of recruiting lads with "good character".

Plenty of great young role models - and no dickheads leading the youngest guys in the wrong direction.

Good !!

Keep clearing the deadwood, the list can only improve by doing so.

I reckon that takes it 13 changes overall does it not ??

How many posters said we won't get rid of that many again and lambasted me for suggesting such a thing ??

Yeah, let's see who fess's up on that one .......
If you guys were including rookies in your calculations then there may have been some confusion. Personally I said 10 max (off the main list). And as much as you were "lambasted" you were lambasting others.

You guys said 15, others said 10. As far as I can see 13 doesn't equal 15 and is in between the two suggestions. You and Soapy (in the words of Mr Wolf), shouldn't start sucking each other's ***** quite yet.

Personally, I'm a bit surprised with Boekhorst, it's clear SOS didn't like him and I am not confident of getting a better player with our last pick at all.

100%

Our 19-23 year old age bracket is now filled with young men who are absolutely committed to being elite athletes in terms of preparation and discipline.

Makes it clearer for the draftees coming through.

Pickett had no idea how to be a professional athlete, now he's come back to pre-season in terrific shape. We're in a good place.

Sad to see White go.

7 years on the list for 83 games and a fairly horrific plague of injuries along the way.

In his first four seasons, White played 26 matches for Carlton, with regular injures limiting his availability – he suffered a hip injury in 2010,[7][8] knee and hamstring injuries in 2011,[9] a medial ligament knee injury in 2012, the return from which was delayed by complications arising from the use of a synthetic ligament to augment the natural ligament (a LARS procedure),[10] and a fractured C3 vertebra from an on-field collision in 2013.

:flushed:

Say it with me. I was wro.......................................

I still want to know why we're clearing contracted players. It's not as though we don't have to pay them out.
Their salaries still drop into next years TPP. Anyone have a real idea and not just of the "they're spuds" variety?

No, their salaries go into this year's salary cap. That might be your answer.

During the pre season he is best 22

I don't watch any North games (obviously, who does?), so I don't know anything about the guy.

Will wait for pre-season reports.

It's clear that SOS/Bolton identified the 24-30 age bracket as our weakest, this is a reinforcement move which I like.

Watched that movie again at the weekend - classic!!

If we get Mullett and then McKenzie and maybe Kennedy then we know Bolton is following the Hawks model for left footers. ;)

Boekhorst never got the chance to show us his worst. I'm 200% confident if Blaine had a chance to play in a final, he would do enough to convince even his biggest fans that he's not up to it.

Way too soft for AFL, and his delisting is another example of why SOS will go down as one of the great list managers.

Mullett not the worst pickup and I expect one of several DFA stop-gaps. But his nickname is 'Fishy' so I'm not sure how this will end up.

Surely only room for one Fish on the list.

Still, a few handy games in 2017 from him - can't believe they cut him tbh. Not the worst Simmo/Doc insurance as a mature rebounding HBF.

Actually, looking at some of his highlights - he appears to be a solid small defender who doesn't mind running forward to lob a long goal from outside 50 - bit like Tuohy really.

We do have a need for a good small defender, so maybe in missing out on Saad he's out 'plan B'...

EDIT: Not sure how this fares being a few years back, but the kid has some wheels -

Aaron Mullet poised to join Carlton in delisted free agency period

It's the new, tougher looking Carlton. Replacing Boakhhurst style man buns with a mullet.

Wow. I'm very surprised we cut three. Fully support keeping Graham on the list over the three we cut today - he is the only decent midfielder amongst them and we lack depth in that area, as well as being good for the NBs.

The thing that strikes me is we must obviously have at least one DFA we rate. Possibly even two if we aren't interested in using a pick in the 70s this draft.

It's a bold list management decision, Cotton... Let's see if it pays off...

How many other games has he successfully tagged anyone? Shut down a tall? Used his “mongrel” to positive effect?

I don’t want to kick a decent clubman when he’s just left, but his time was up 3 years ago.

You are kicking a great club man while he is down.

Your words were "he's a Mr Fixit who never fixed anything"

Simon White killed Dusty that day after being smashed in the head in the first couple of minutes of the game - the same Dusty that won just about every individual award to be won in 2017.

I agree his time is up - no doubt about it.

But to pretend he never made any worthwhile contribution to the team is just plain stupid.
