Would love to debate your list..........but I can't.

You could easily add Rowe, JGM and another couple who may yet disappoint.
The trick though will be to turn some failures into winners.

I'm still hopeful on JGM and Rowe will depend upon Knee and needs. There may be 1 or 2 that stay if they can step up but nearly all will be gone. By 2019 season our current kids will start to really step up plus we will have a new group (hopefully as good) and a couple of "big fish".

Jaksch, Boekhorst, Sumner, Kerridge and Lamb are the guys that have the ability to add something and a couple at least should surprise.

Kerridge is contracted so he's in....Lamb would have to accept a significant pay cut to hand on and the rest..........Hail Mary???????

Is Kerridge contracted past 2018?

IMO Jaksch isn't close, Boekhurst is soft and lacks poise, Kerridge and Lamb are goers but are limited and Sumner is the biggest disappointment

Up to SOS to replace as many as possible with real quality. Another 12 or so kids and some top end talent and some positional/role players from other clubs.

I'm looking forward to 2019 [emoji6]
Yep, looks about right. Also shows how far we have to go....

Whatever happens this off season will be the one that goes the longest way to determining the outcome of the Silvagni era.
Yes and no. If we have a significant win in trading without losing too much then yes.

But we might end up with the scenario of just going to the draft (though it sounds unlikely shouldn't be dismissed).

In that case it would be next year that determines the Silvagni era.

Every successful club in the past decade has milked some aspect of the AFL system to get an edge on the competition - priority picks and free agency, COLA, father/sons - we should be ruthlessly pursuing an edge of our own, whatever it may be.

This x 1 billion

Pride is what happens out on the field every week, I've been proud of their efforts besides 3 quarters of football for the year.

Doesn't mean we are that good but they are taking pride in their performance.

I'll be disgusted if they have to much pride to ask for something that is well within the rules and their rights to do so. Every single club in the same predicament would do the same, thinking otherwise is ridiculous.

pride
prʌɪd/
noun
  1. 1.
a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of one's close associates, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
That's the pride I know.
Yes, and in the context of what I was saying, pride that is associated with people who refuse to see doctors, ask for help when they need it etc leads to negative outcomes. You know this of course, but are being a pedant due to, ironically, pride.

I can see Lamb still being there, has shown a bit and is a good foot soldier. Isnt going to win any awards but if he is your 25th or so best player when you're pushing for finals then we will have a good side.

Adam White this morning on RSN radio said he didn't rate our list and said our Rs nominations outside CC are peripheral players and the reason why we've performed in most games is because of our senior players which makes some sense but I wouldn't call Marchbank or Sps as peripheral players, what else would you expect from an Essendon supporter.

No, I didn't know the context nor the term attributable to people who refuse to see doctors, but you've made up your mind that I did, so that's that.

And we shouldn't ask for a PP either. That is in context.

The quote "Pride comes before the fall" is EXACTLY what that is about. So I guess it's a case of 'my mistake, your fault'...

They are peripheral players because they are still kids and developing but I do agree that we were carried massively by our senior players

In all honesty, I don't rate our list either.... yet. We have holes everywhere and we are banking so much on our young kids to develop perfectly into elite players.

This is why I'm an advocate of recruiting Kelly. You know he's a gun and a leader. We need a sure thing now more than ever, especially if we lose Gibbs. I'm one of the few who thought we won the Judd trade overall. Purely because Judd single handedly transformed the football club and gave us long suffering fans some finals joy. Had we kept Kennedy our poor quality development would have stunted his growth and perhaps he would not have been the same player. Masten is an average player.

Stars lift the culture, the standards, and the confidence of a playing group. Kelly is the ideal acquisition, but it doesn't end there.

We require another 4 quality midfielders, a small goal scoring forward, a lock down small defender, and a replacement ruck for Kreuzer.

That's still a lot of talent we need to bring in before I would consider our list as elite.
