It's ok. I've been pretty familiar with your views from TC and here over the years. I see where you're coming from with your call to trade Weitering. I don't agree with it. But you've always thought outside the square.

Anyway, my reason is I think Weitering will turn into a player, you think his ceiling is lower than I believe it is. I won't shift you, you won't shift me. In five years we'll know the answer, no matter where he's playing. Hope you think that is a more realistic debate.

Jeez blue, that sort of timeframe is like the gap between the Olympic games. You must have zen like patience. The sport is an annual affair. We dont want a half measured rebuild but, 'there is no tomorrow'. Olympic athletes are normally the same age as our 'youngsters'. Im prepared for another year of trifling results but at some point the club has to field a competitve team. I guess where the magic lies is finding out the players who are besting their opponents more often than not. Whoever cant do that consistently needs to find a way (jones) or find another vocation, no matter who it is. Systems and tactics need to be malleable and same with the players. More to like about our blokes and coaches than not. But I hope its more like 2019 we are closer to the top than this expansion team record we have to cop at present. Hopefully the forensic work has been done and the club knows what it is doing, going for the top draft choices and losing all the time isnt how I have seen any of the best sports clubs operate. But Im in the trenches with you (until 2019)

And I thought Bolton had his frustrations with Cas last year but he's been fairly glowing in his praise of Levi this year. He's talked about his hard work, his importance to the structure and his character.

But there's one guy who can potentially give us Kelly
Gws might see potential in him and do it on the number he was drafted
To us, in my opinion Kelly is of absolute paramount to get!
And hopefully with minimal players being swapped and detriment to the club going forward

How come I never get to sit down one-on-one with Bolts and discuss who he does and doesn't rate like everyone else???

That is not much more than the league average. We have a bunch of kids on minimum wage, front load it for two years, he can play VFL for the last two years of his contract for $200k if players go past him.

Better than overpaying for a stop gap who doesn't know our systems and has lower output than Casboult currently has.

Hanging onto the past won't address the future Jabba73. It's like forever hanging onto Murphy, Gibbs, etc and hoping our 2 way running and defensive pressure through the middle of the ground is going to somehow miraculously change.

McKay, SOSOS & Charlie will have had 3 preseasons under their belts come next year, so I'd be questioning the relevance of the "protect the kids" mantra anymore. For me the biggest issue is the lack of inside 50s along with the quality and speed of the way we bring it in there. For that we need to renovate the midfield so I'd rather take the pick for Casboult and draft a mid.

Club needs to have the courage to back in their recruiting and trading to bring about the required change.

The suggestion of trading Weitering, with all due respect is short sighted and possibly the worst idea I've read all day.

The kid is 19 in his second year, do people forget he was head and shoulders above any KPP in his draft year. We won't be much good for another 3 or 4 years, when Weiters will be 23 and at his peak.

Yes we may have a lot of options in defence now, but what about in 3 or 4 years time. Let's not do a Josh Kennedy and then see Weiters flourish at some other club as a key forward or defender for 10 years.....**** that.
