You sure about this? I was of the belief that draftees are signed to an industry standard two-year contract. I've never heard of triggers for a third year being included in those, which is why there is talk in the media every now and again about extending the standard draftees contract to three years.
The standard contract is two years, but prior to 2015 we'd had one-year options added to all draftee contracts.

That's how they kept suddenly being re-signed all the time without any major updates on the official site. I don't see why SOS wouldn't keep that going, should a player want to wait another year in order to go up a performance bracket.

How does the rookie list work now? Is there a separate draft like previous years, they're all just eligible to play though?
Still a rookie list, a rookie draft and the normal TPP allocations, there's just no pre-requisite for a Category A rookie to be elevated.

Ladder as of today.

Next weeks games will be interesting.

Brisbane v Norf
Port v GC
Carlton v Sydney

I can't see Norf beating Brisbane, GC beating Port or us beating Sydney.

We could still end up 17th & could all come down to %

So essentially, unless we beat Sydney up there, we will end up with at least pick #3 because if Norf win their % will be higher and if Bris win they'll have more points.

If Norf win and we get absolutely slaughtered we could still finish last...

If Sydney beat us by about 5 goals more than Port beat GC then we'll finish 17th.

We can't finish last, that ladder is wrong, Brisbane currently occupies 18th place with 5 wins. Both North and Brisbane are on 20 points, we are on 24.

Wrong ladder dude

I find it strange there would be this sort of hooah about adding a third year to draftee contracts if it was standard practise for clubs to add them anyway:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...n/news-story/8bcbbafdff865fc953d90dc6b12d42ee

Having said that, Rule 6.4 of the AFL Rules says:
"When a First Year Draft Choice Player is first listed by an AFL Club, that Player and the AFL Club shall enter into a playing contract for a minimum term of two AFL Seasons except in the case of a Player who has previously been listed as a Rookie at any AFL Club or the Player will be 23 years or over as at the 31st day of December immediately following the most recent National Draft Selection Meeting."

I note it says minimum of two years, so again, it's not concrete. I just wonder if you are reading too much into players extending their contracts and it not being announced publicly.

Maybe, but whatever the case, he's not trying to leave and they're not trying to trade him.

We really haven't seen some of our guys off the leash quite yet.
Guys like SPS, Curnow, Byrne and then Williamson and Fisher, are going to entertain us for years to come.

Cuningham fits into this group also. This guy has some serious tricks but still has to get the 'foundation' right.
The change to the more attacking game, and it will come when ready, will transform some of these guys into serious weapons.

HARKER, what is Cuningham's projection? I can't really think of a current player who he's comparable to.

He's quick but not absurdly quick.

He looks slight but is actually quite strong.

He's a great finisher for goal.

Doesn't really get heaps of the ball.

Poor man's dylan shiel?

I work with a guy he went to high school with unless he's win a flag this year he is going no where

If this is the case their salary cap squeeze will force out the likes of Hopper, Kennedy and maybe even Whitfield.

Kelly is the better player by a long way. But if we could obtain 2 of the above 3 I'd be more than happy.

Don't be fooled by his smooth running gait, cunners is deceptively quick. From memory he ran a 2.84 over 20m @ the combine which is top end. Pickett was 2.78!

I didn't see a lot of Cuningham through the last pre-season, but first impressions the year before was; This guy has some serious tricks.
Having said that though.....so did Clem Smith, over the course of a few weeks.
I like David because he found his way out of congestion. At times he looked untouchable, but real game is very different to simulation.

Last year had him mostly in the 2's, but at times you could just see the class come through, even though I felt it to be a difficult year for him, being played in the middle where he found it hard to get a read off ruck-mans hands. It was a tough initiation for him, but clearly the faith was there, from the coaches.

I don't know David, but he seems to be a confidence player. Clearly has heaps of ability, but just to do a 'Jones' now. :)

We'd need to lose by roughly 50points if GC lose by a goal. And North would need to win.

Why do we just have to go after Kelly why not zakka as well

David Zaharakis is 27 years of age. He is having a career year. He would cost an arm and a leg to get across and is not worth it for somebody who is not within the age group of the players that we're targeting (preferably younger than 24).
