Macreadie needs to be tried in another line because we are going to be hard pressed to get the most out of all of Weitering, Marchbank, Jones, Plowman and Macreadie in the one side, otherwise. Macreadie is the least entrenched, so that's what I've based my reasoning on.

Pretty sure Macreadie has played defence his entire junior career...would be hard to change to a forward. Players often go from forward to defence but not the other way around.

Unfortunate for him that we are so well stocked for KPD's...though he strikes me as type who needs a year or 2 in the VFL anyway for now.

His best position would be the one we have Plowman, Marchbank and Weitering currently playing so kind of sucks for him.

This won't be a popular opinion but I'm just not seeing Plowman as a long term option.

We're struggling to find the right match ups for him this year.

We've been playing him on small forwards and he's been exposed for mobility and he struggles against the bigger forwards.

I'm guessing that's why GWS were glad to let go if him and his contract.

Going forward if he stays on our list it will only be for depth.
Playing on the smalls may be new to him, so it'll take time for him to improve this. In any case, he's a great intercept mark and can easily play the Simpson or Docherty role, both of whom aren't great one on one defenders.

He's quality as he's good games have shown, the mistakes and poor games are all part of the process - he's curve is trending up.

I can't see him being able to improve his mobility or pace, he's not a player designed to play on smaller players.

And he doesn't fit into a defence containing bigger players like Marchbank, Weitering, Jones or Macreadie who is bigger and taller than Plowman but also faster and more mobile.

I simply can't see him having a long term role.

I wouldn't be too worried. As others said, adjusting to playing on smalls. Comprehensively towel Jamie Elliott up earlier in the year

He kicked 2.2 but thats all good..
Fair enough to keep people honest but IF Fisher didn't handball to the opposition whilst our blokes were running forward of the ball then Betts doesn't get a cheapy out the back. Defence are only as good as the midfield pressure, next season Fisher will hit the handball and we will be going inside 50. Plowman was On par for AA honours first 5-10 rounds, his ball retention is #1 for players who have played 10+ games this season.

POS: Midfielder, Ht 187cm, Wt 85kg, DOB 8/6/1999
From Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country

The tough, composed and hard-working midfielder started his carnival in brilliant fashion, steering Vic Country to a win over the Allies with 34 disposals and 10 marks in a dominant display. He didn't quite have the same impact thereafter, but recruiters are well aware of his talents. Davies-Uniacke is the right size for a modern midfielder, he's competitive, good by foot and has a turn of speed, evident in his breakaway goal from a centre clearance against Vic Metro in round three of the carnival. Davies-Uniacke is a prospect you can see playing plenty of games at AFL level next year.

Midfielder, Ht 186cm, Wt 85kg, DOB 7/10/1999

Cerra didn't blitz at the carnival but is a midfielder you can depend on. He's classy by foot, keeps running all day, makes space for others with his hands and never appears rushed into his decisions. He had 24 disposals against Western Australia in Metro's round one win and 17 touches, seven tackles and seven clearances in their title-sealing win over South Australia at Etihad Stadium. A knee injury limited Cerra last season but he has pieced together a year of consistent showings in 2017 that makes him one of the leading midfielders up for grabs.

Actually I think the defense functions better now that the big Rowe isn't in the side
Might be a nice role for him off field. He seems like a special character but knee injury or not I think he would have been struggling to play atm

For a list management point of view keeping Rowe on the list may be very valuable.

He is a "break open in emergency" solution to back up ruck, KPF and KPD.

I.e. We won't need as many "depth" players on our list if he is there and can therefore have an extra couple of development players on the list - JGM for example.

Theyve also said on a number of occasions bolton in particular we are a club in a hurry . And our trading for multiple players for 1 pick indicates that as well . Our position in the draft will be nowhere near as strong next draft if we are chasing and obtaining the likes of Kelly and Hopper . I also dont think they will leave it at those 2 either . So we may see some project players maybe a young ruckman and players that will need more developing before inclusion into the side from this years batch of draftees . Cant expect to keep picking up Williamsons in a so called weak draft .

Listened to Stephen Wells (legendary Cat recruiter) yesterday on SEN.

Re this years "weak draft" - In short he said he tells his team "there will always be good players in lower reaches of the draft and rookie draft if you are prepared to do your homework".

Marchbank. - ASOS - Macreadie
DOC. - Jones - Simmo/Pickett

ASOS and Jones could hold FB and CHB for next few years, both are hard, desperate and fast key position players ?

Plowman, Byrne and Williamson on the wings to rotate with Doc and Simmo in defence

Weitering FF
Charlie CHF

FWIW - Immediately after last year's draft SOS specifically commented in an interview that MacReadie could also play as KPF.

I love what Plowman has been doing but one thing I'm worried about is that he seems to get a mismatch most weeks. With Weitering, Jones and Marchbank playing back this could constantly happen
I dont think it's a mismatch. He has the capacity to play on the smaller types. Is doing an excellent job

Agree with this totally. It feels like we have our act together now with not only recruiting, but also development. We may be in a weaker position in coming years with our picks as we climb the ladder, but I now have faith not only with who SOS picks but how they will be developed and reach their potential. For too long it seemed be pick and hope. Now it seems to be pick and grow. Green shoots!

Loved watching earlier in the season to see who was going to have the most intercept marks out of Plowman and Marchbank. It got hard to keep and count sometimes.

Can get turned around relatively easily, which shouldn't be surprising given his size against some of the guys he's been pitted up against.
Fortunately though there's usually back up there for support.

What I like about Lachie, along with most of the other guys in the back-line, is that they play with lots of energy
By that I mean, they're all hands and legs, like table football players............. even though table-football players don't use arms. :)
