Palmer has one more year to go.

Sumner should get one more season to prove himself as he does have a high ceiling.

Personally I don't think we should keep both white and Rowe...only 1. We have a lot of kpds on our list.

Has to be Rowe we keep.

If Casboult moves on Rowe would be the prefect big body foil to play up forward to provide a bit of size and bulk.

Looks like I'll get at least on of my wants; Boekhorst won't be de-listed. Jaksch is on a knifes edge though.
We could do worse than to keep these two guys on the list for another year.

There is no way Boek goes unless he gets traded. The kid has improved so much this season and if he can improve again in 2018 he will be a good player.
So many others who are behind him.

Agreed Harker. Boekhurst, Jaksch, Graham are great depth players. They are all around the 23/24 year old age group and can bring something to the senior team. Their weaknesses don't stand out as much when in a stronger team playing great team structures.

What games are you basing Jacksh being good for depth on?

Call me crazy, but I think we should just continue to build through the draft and forget about trading high picks for gun players. Sure, if there is a bargain we can get for a second/third rounder go for it, but keep any top 10 pick.

Use free agency and get the guns for nothing in 2018/19/20.

What difference does it make if you draft a gun with your pick or trade for a gun with your pick?

Barass is quite respected too and he said Gibbs would request a trade again "without a doubt".
Things change though, that was a while ago. Personally, I think we need to keep Gibbs unless we get a great offer. I think he will stay as I don't see Adelaide offering up much for him.

Pick 1 would've done the job for Kelly imo (the win was more important though)but we will now have to cough up multiple picks for him. I'm not sure we are ready

Oh for ****'s sake... when was the last time we left a draftee without a one year option on his contract? Cuningham will stay.
You sure about this? I was of the belief that draftees are signed to an industry standard two-year contract. I've never heard of triggers for a third year being included in those, which is why there is talk in the media every now and again about extending the standard draftees contract to three years.

KJ should be a goner. If we keep Rowe he could just as easily play the Levi role if we need the depth option. There's also Kerr with another preseason and tbh we're already probably a little too tall up forward.

I have KJ, Buckley, Sumner, Armfield, Gorringe, White, Gallucci, JGM delisted. Korcheck and Sheehan sit outside the 44 so not sure how we play that, guessing both will go.

His VFL form DD. He has had a couple where he has kicked 4 goals and has dominated some other games as a CHF. He's 23 y.o, has good skills and obviously a poor attitude. My view is some young blokes take a long time to mature, so give him every chance. If he doesn't, then so be it. But he has the skills and attributes so I reckon one year more won't hurt; particularly when there are a lot more before him to be culled.

In saying that, I'm 99% sure he will be cut.

Pretty well on the money there Zee. Would be a minor miracle if Sumner and KJ aren't cut...but wouldn't surprise if retained.

If Casboult does stay, Jaskch will be closer to the exit door. If he didn't, we may hang onto the extra tall forward for another year.

Can't see these guys surviving:

Armfield - Retired
Gorringe - Not hard as doesn't provide any cover, anywhere.
Buckley - Nothing left for Dylan here. He should move on.
Sumner - Had his chances and simply not making the most of them. Others have overtaken.
Jaksch - As above. Even though we won't be chasing KPP this trade/draft period, if Casboult stays, Jaksch will likely be out.
Gallucci - Definitely
Korchek - Not enough development going on.
Sheehan - Makes me ill put his name here, but hasn't really made the most of this year, for one reason or another.

Graham - Not sure where to put him. Could be the same scenario as last year and he'll find out his fate on the last list lodgement.

Borderline, but should survive:

Boekhorst - May yet be trade bait, but won't be delisted.
White - Likely to get another year, but no real on-ground loss if de-listed
Rowe - May yet be asked retire. Currently out of contract.
Glass-McCasker - Reckon we'll back ourselves for another year with him.
Lamb - May have been here, but now deservedly more likely to be given a year or two.

Reckon it's totally up to Gussy whether he wants to stay on the Cat B rookie list for another year.
I was half hoping he showed signs so we could potentially trade him. Worth it for a club down on half back flankers.

What I've noticed about Gus, is that he seems to have slowed down and seems just a little less mobile than he used to be.
Maybe they're just previous injuries that have done that to him in the short term, but if that's the new standard, it's going to be tough for him.

On current form and ability, he's probably not deserving of being retained.

Must be great being Simon White. Play two good games a year, be a good bloke and speak up at team meetings - get another contract.

Doesn't play a key position, often injured, not well skilled, ill disciplined on field...has to go

Not going to argue with you on that point, but there does seem to be a lot of love for him at the club.
I don't think we need him with ASilvagni around, but I do think he'll remain.

How does the rookie list work now? Is there a separate draft like previous years, they're all just eligible to play though?

Not sure we'll keep JGM, finished the season slightly better but is lacking in many areas. We should really get an athletic project ruck in somehow.

It's funny you say that. I once heard an ex player say all you have to do is talk up, pretend you're leader and you'll get yourself a game not matter if you deserve it or not

Looks about right. A lot will depend on trade period.
Like to know what's going on with Sumner.
Rowe has been told he will get another year.
A few people in Carlton members on Saturday night were certain that Boekhurst for Balic was a done deal?

Every time a player announces there retirement I cant but think that what those players are able to contribute is still significantly better than what we get from Daisy.. Not knocking Daisy here but if you were given the choice between going into next year with Luke Hodge, Nick Riewolt, Sam Mitchell, Matt Priddis, Stevie J, Matthew Boyd, Robert Murphy or Daisy... the decision is very easy.
