Barring any preseason injury concerns I'm starting the bald master, no doubt about it.

Someone talk me out of Marc Murphy. I regret not starting with Gibbs after having him all preseason last year and I'm getting the same vibe with Captain Squib.

I brought him in last year, it didn't end well.:(

If you do pick him it would be a pod to Beams, could go ether way.

I have him as a upgrade target after his early bye.
I just hope he doesn't go to berserk early and make me panic trade him in

Ben Cunnington: Did he have a change in role last year or was he hampered by a niggle or something like that?
Had a calf niggle for most of the second half of the season, as well as being a victim of North's injuries stuffing the midfield rotations (all the fwd/mids were out, leaving just specialist small fwds fit) and restricting his ability to rest forward and hit the scoreboard. On top of that he still doesn't have a super tank and so doesn't get on his bike to link up. Inside game is still strong.

Can't see him taking the leap to SC premo but has the capacity to improve this year.

He's a great pic, what kind of average do you expect from him at a new club? Average of 93.5 from 14 games last season.
I'd like to see a 150 Ave for Tiges sake, but anywhere north of 106 I'd imagine. Is only a touch above 500k and has the rnd 12 bye too.

Richmond took out Lids, so...
I actually made that trade about 5 minutes after my post. However lids in now under the Boyd rule, I'm either gonna start with him or not pick him at all so it's making it a bit of tough choice.

JOM not likely to be ready for round 1. Apparently Hawks looking at somewhere around round 4. I wasn't going to start him anyway.

Should be cherry ripe to trade in when Fyfe or Rocky (or both of them) get their season ending injuries.

I was thinking he'll be a good downgrade on the bubble after beams averages 130 the first 6 rounds then dies in round 7.

Cheers for the detailed answer, mate :thumbsu:

Both he and Swallow look like they had significantly lower TOG than in previous seasons (partly rotations policy, I guess?), which explains a fair bit of their respective drop-offs.

Swallow might have lost a yard and some outside impact for good due to the Achilles, but Cunnington might bounce back a little higher if he can avoid niggles.

Main reason for the question was their really low TOG - if they got around avg MID TOG, they'd project to jump 15-odd (putting aside any additional impact of uptick in form).

Probably not enough to be relevant at their starting prices, I guess, but still.

I'm starting to like the idea of starting Shiels, backing him to get off to a flyer, then trade him to Gray after Ports bye. Can anyone see an issue with this besides the risk of Shiels not starting well?

Personally don't like it mate. Why not pick swallow and pocket the extra 100k?
Missed the first 2 games of last season and then averaged 59.5 over his next four before hitting a 111 (his only score over 100 last year).

I reckon he's a lot better than what we saw last year. 2015 he averaged 97 and hit 100 in 9/16 games. It's a risk, bit if he can be a 100k upgrade to Gray it could be one worth taking. Swallow is an option for the same strategy.

If he averages his best season average again he will be about 525k. That's his ceiling for me and he's no guarantee to get it. Pick D.Swallow instead! Has averaged 103 in the past and is 100k cheaper!
