*SPS and MyersAll depends where the best rookies land.
Need two spots in the middle for SPP and Myers as they will be the best scoring rookies one would think.

Bodacious summary shotgunOne for the newbies to Supercoach around here. My two bobs worth and as a Cash League player on here I feel I should contribute something worthwhile back to my fellow BigFooty heathen. This is more a guide but has worked well in the past. I have had two top 1000 finishes (once 200th odd - 27th halfway) the only two years I researched thoroughly. So not an expert by any means.
Structure is an underrated piece of the SC puzzle. Getting it right is vital with hindsight each season and a two pronged strategy that can't be finalised until Round 1 teams are confirmed, and a great head start over your rivals if nailed correctly. So here's a very good way to develop your team structure:
1. Pick the 15-16 rookies that you think will make the MOST CASH then select them in your team. This will be the basis of your structure as cash generation is critical and it is an arms race building cash early on. Kinda like Warcraft! Get left behind and you won't catch up. Naturally the best 7-9 rookies will be on field for you. Write down the average you expect from your on field rookies.
2. Next step is to play around with the 20 or so Premiums that you've narrowed it down to during Preseason research and fill in the rest of your squad after rookie selections have been decided upon. Again write down the average you expect from them. Most premium selections are a coin toss and the structure developing in front of you will potentially decide which Premiums you'll settle upon. Personally I wouldn't wiggle the evident structure too much. Maybe 1 Premium shift to another line at most, definitely no more than that. Don't be afraid to deviate from what the crowd is doing and back yourself in.
Now a structure should be pretty evident after merging your Premium and rookie selections above into one team. Collate your expected team score (be realistic and research each player - I personally keep a squad of 40-45 players I research and keep an eye on each eliminating them one-by-one as the JLT Series progresses towards Round 1). Try swapping in an out players you are considering or a slight deviation to the structure you've now created and the resultant change in score expected when adjusting your team. Your 1st emergency scores in each position should also be a consideration as the SC Gods and late changes wreak havoc on the best laid plans.
For example after using this method I can see I'd rather play onfield a Fyfe (120 ave) & Tom Stewart (65 ave) combination over say Johannisen (95 ave) & McLuggage (80 ave). Fyfe & Stewart cost $25k less, with an expected average of 10 more points and an extra $10k in cash generation. An added bonus is by potentially selecting an extra Premium Midfielder I can consider downgrading McLuggage (or similarly priced player) if he is now my M9-M11 to a cheaper rookie on the bench who'll make a similiar amount of cash which now saves $80k to upgrade another Premium potentially collecting another 10 points per round.
Personally after laying out an initial team using the above method I've got a 3def-6mid-2ruck-4fwd Premium strategy which developed when selecting my team. Early days though and as those rookie become more clear cut before Round 1 my team structure may change considerably.
Hope I've helped a few players out![]()
