How would we go about chasing McCartin if Schache leaves. Hipwood the string bean and McCartin the gorilla.

I think we've had more than enough players forced into retirement by concussion.

Yeah did take that somewhat into consideration. Would diminish his value. And no disrespect as my wife is a type 1 diabetic but that can't be easy but not impossible.

He's contracted so he'd probably cost the port pick. At least.

Wait. McMartin worth a pick in the teens but people are expecting Schache to net is several first rounders.

A year younger with more games, more goals, more disposals per game, more scoring shots per game, more goal assists per game and a much higher time on ground.

Yep and playing in a forward line with Josh Bruce and cry baby Nick.

Good point. Schache looks even better, having to take the top defender most weeks.

It's rare that I've seen someone attempt the "he's got worse stats therefore he's better" spin. :D

Let me be clear. I'm not trying to say McMartin is a better footballer than Schache.

I thought that was the exact point of your original post in this thread of interactions. Your questioned why people valued Schache more than McMartin.

Not because I rate one higher than the other but because both are similiar aged KPF drafted Pick 1 or 2 in the draft.

I think that may be oversimplifying.

Aish and Bontempelli are similar aged mids taken only 3 places apart.

Young mids are very different to young KPF when comparing them after only a few full seasons. That said given the McMartin concussion issues I'd be steering well clear of him.

That's a fair enough point, but I'd say Schache has shown conspicuously more in less time at a worse club. I don't think it's surprising people imagine them fetching different value, and it would be surprising if clubs didn't take those factors into account.

With it looking more and more likely that Schache will be leaving at the end of the we can not continue to bring in 18 year olds. We should be getting at the least a top 5 draft pick for him. I hope the club a looking very seriously at 20-24 year old midfield/small fwd talent.

20-24 year old midfield/small fwd talent OOC (according to footywire) at the end of 2017- Jacob Hopper, Matthew Kennedy, Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Darcy Parish, Nakia Cockatoo.

If we lose Schache and get 2 of Hopper, Cockatoo and Kennedy I imagine most supporters would be fairly happy with the outcome.

Seriously, can anyone see any of the young OOC players coming here?

If Schache leaves, I would really hope we get a top 5 pick for him. But if Schache nominates a club that doesn't have a top 5 pick, it's extremely unlikely we get a top 5 pick, unless a multi team trade can be worked out.

Cockatoo and Hopper more than a slim chance from what I've heard. Still unlikely though.

I mentioned Nakia Cockatoo 12 months ago and got shot down by old mate Leemas who said he was happy at Geelong was no chance. Not sure where he gleaned that information from - maybe he horse's mouth? Anyway Nakia grew up in Darwin where his father was a gun player. He would prefer the warmer weather thats for sure. Not sure if he wants to leave but he would be a nice pick up.

Out of interest where does all the Hopper talk originate from? People living in hope because he comes off contract or is there actual talk he might be interested in leaving and heading to another club?
