Could also net us someone who will leave in 2 years and we get pick 15 for in return.

Hopper would show that he wants to be at the club and could sign for greater than 2 years. It would be a safer bet.

It's also not unrealistic that we could land Hopper too. It's worth noting that whatever GWS thought they were going to pay Josh Kelly, has just been blown out of the water. If they want to keep Kelly, which they will, they'll have to look to offload players to fit him in. This is where we could offer one of our early picks for Hopper & M.Kennedy in a package deal, it would free up some $ for GWS and it would be a win for us.

Hopper and Kennedy would be awesome, realistically would they want to come here? Hopefully our new facility is announced soon.

Then it comes down to defining best 18 mid. Brisbane say Bont, Macrae, Hunter etc, we say Honeychurch.

The one that I'd shift is Jong - a quicker, contested marking, less productive version of Robinson, and is currently best 22. Lukas Webb may be looking around. Not quite best 22 yet (played last game) and while averages 30 possies in the midfield at VFL his best possie may be half back. Daniel Rich like boot.
Let's leave the draft picks out and swap Stef Martin for Jong?

We any chance of getting him?

If he's going to leave GWS (and I'm not convinced he will), I think we're in with as much chance as anyone else.

Probably depends on how we view Hopper though. I personally think he's going to be better than just decent.

Oh was definitely not referring to Hopper when I made that comment; I rate his potential higher than a 'decent' young midfielder. More referring to someone like Jong that was mentioned.

We go through this every year. Such and such would be great to get but really it's a massive challenge convincing anyone to come play for us.

The ole aim for Hopper get Sam Shelton mkII.

A Jong type would be useful, but probably not much more. Jong plays like Tom Bell should, except he's also a hopeless kick and is also a terrible shot at goal on top of that.

Hi guys. Hope not intrusive and genuine question.

Your young developing tall spine looks fantastic. Assuming you retain them, I kinda doubt you'd draft another developing tall. And assuming you have Pick 1 (not trying to rude, just realistic.) it seems there might be some talls being looked at with Pick 1 this year. (If Carlton have Pick 2 I'd say they definitely go tall).

With Boyd looking like a ruck fwd, we need a young KPF to take over from Cloke and Redpath in a couple of years. What it would take to prise pick one from you?

You'd imagine our first rd picks this year and next (likely 11-18) could be on the table plus something. What is the something?
Would consider your 2 first round picks along with the forgotten man Mitch Wallis. Hard inside mid in the perfect age bracket for us at the moment(24)
25 next year. Would add some desperately needed experience and hardness.
Would depend on how he goes for the rest of the year after coming back from his broken leg. But would consider.

Will add to the above post by saying that i would much prefer Hopper. If he is at all gettable and GWS will be pretty desperate to get as many early picks as they can. To fill the void left by the Whitfield penalty.

Hard watching Joshy Green do well at the Bombers. He's no superstar, but I really wanted to hold onto him for 1 more 2 year deal to see if the new coaches could get through to him. Playing a nice role at the Dons, we could use him up forward ATM. He will go onto be a really solid small forward IMO. Dons fans love him. Luey not so much.

Born and bred into the doggies,he and Tommy would be the last to leave. Not the line breaking type needed, although a terrific player.I'll mention it at the pool to morrow though if you like !

Agree, sorry to have to add to that as hes a great guy.

Yeah, Father-Son so extremely unlikely. Especially to come to us.

I thought the issue with Greene was the terms of the contract extension he wanted from us.

He wanted X and we were only willing to pay Y and there was an impasse.

Only from memory and happy to be corrected if not the case.

Just watched the GWS v Bulldogs game (I was out that night, sue me) and Hopper stood out as really solid for a second year player. He's stood up a few times this year since he's moved into the middle with GWS's injuries. I'd love to see him in Lions' colours.

Hopper would be a genuinely smart trade.

If only we had him instead...

Unless the players are from Qld ( and have been delisted ), no manager is going to propose a move to the Lions at present. Dayne Beams is the exception. Just one. Whoever the no 1 draft lad is, an exit strategy ( a la Aish ) is a must. Our game v Pies at the G will finally expose us. Again. There will be rumours - something must be done - but it will come to nothing. Vicious cycle.

Yeah that was about it from memory.

How would we go about chasing McCartin if Schache leaves. Hipwood the string bean and McCartin the gorilla.
