I know it's looking like being part of a bigger swap for Hawks players, but how is hodge not even done? lol. Would have been nice to roll him out in the polo day 2, doing some media.

Because it was never a priority. Both clubs have an in principle agreement to make it happen and it will be left until late to get the best deal for both clubs.

Aren't you going to ask for his left nut? You're being a bit easy on Dodongo.

I believe the piece of anatomy in question is currently pledged to a different contract for at least the next few days. You wouldn't want him to make a play for it until it is out of contract would you? ;)

As much as it annoys me, the Bombers are killing it this trade period. I'd take Saad for a future second (early 30 pick from the Bombers?) in a heartbeat
It's pretty easy when players are lining up to come to your club. Like to see Dodoro et al dealing with our scenario. Bit more challenging.

Because it doesnt need to be. We will be seeing what happens during trade week and managing our list spots. If we have the space available then on the last day once everything is done and dusted, we will trade our pick in the 70s for Hodge. It is a trade that will not impact either clubs other trades or activities. If we need the list spot, then it will be left for the PSD. Both clubs are on the same page that they will get it done.

Worth noting the Bombers would have had a lot of freedom in their cap due to the drug scandle players being looked after outside the cap. That year off has literally been the gift that keeps on giving. Pathetic.

I don't think we are waiting to see if there is a list spot for Hodge TBH, it is going to happen. I also think the club would have valued a 'done deal' media piece to go out early in the piece and to potentially have him recruit or be a lure for us for other players if need be during trade period. I think it's because it is potentially tied up with another player.. it might be him and hartung for 60, rather than just him for 80 for example, which is dependent on list spots.

Maybe taking Maverick Weller of StKilda's hands may land us Lachie Weller....
I'd be prepared to use a spot on Maverick to get Lachie.
Some say we do this with Claye to keep Dayne happy.

Yep I was onto this at the time. These "out of court" settlements were a freaking rort. No wonder they basically kept every player they wanted with a couple of exceptions.

Conveniently the media said nothing.

We have as much chance of getting Lachie Weller as the Suns have of getting Charlie Cameron. Read the play, these deals are already done.

Amazing how trade period can turn grown men into seven year olds on christmas eve.

Yes it's frustrating but this happens every year and it's a lot more exciting than it was 10 years ago.

Pretty much this.

Beams was also captain in the NEAFL Grand Final. I suspect we won't give him a senior spot, but allow him to explore options as a DFA and commit to re-drafting him as a rookie if there's no other interest (I don't think there would be any - maybe Suns?)
Captain of a successful NEAFL team mean another nail in the coffin.

Forget trade week, how about 'trade hour'. That would keep the energy levels pretty high.
Lock everyone in a room. Give them 3 hours and broadcast it on Fox/AFL site like the draft.

(Although let the clubs meet beforehand the week prior to do backgrounding, etc. Wouldn't be that much different to the state of play now really).

Naaaa wouldn't work Doc......Magpies, Essendon n blues would take up 55 mins leaving little time for the rest. Just an aside........I just read on a hawk board entitled............Who Simon Lethleaned Jono Browns Misses......most disgusting dribble I have read........don't they have moderators over there.

It usually all happens in the last 2 or 3 days. Just so many deals are all tied together and takes a while for all the negotiation and pieces to line up right
Like most of us, the clubs work to the deadlines. The trade deadline is Thursday 2pm. If the trade period was extended to a month or reduced to 3 days, the same deals would get done. Not too many Uni students finish and hand in an assignment 4 days before it is due.
