Seems to be a few "experts" grading our trade period as at least a pass mark. I find that interesting given most Lions supporters think it ranges from a slight fail to an absolute disaster.

If that is true "most Lions supporters" have NFI.

1) Schache is too mentally weak for AFL and will be delisted in a couple of years by Bulldogs, making our trade for him far better than paying a list-clogger like him an inflated wage for 2 years.

2) Charlie Cameron will be regarded as one of our best players by the end of 2018. Crows have already trained him - he has shown he can win games off his own boot and just needs to become more consistent in his disposal. By the end of 2018 "most Lions supporters" will be saying what a bargain he was.

3) The upgrade from pick 20 to 15 ensures we will be able to take the inevitable elite player who slides down the draft order. Retaining pick 18 will mean we can use it on Ballenden to match any rival bids (if they come that early).

All 3 of these were great trades IMHO. Just wait and see how things pan out before bagging Nobes and Dom. If I am wrong by all means bag them in a couple of years but not now.

This could very well be true, I have been told by a very reliable source that Josh was starting to get a lot of the boys down. Very nice guy, deep thinker, but soft and horribly homesick, and would lay on his bed for hours, staring at the ceiling. He had to be traded for his own good, so we were never going to get much for him, and any spin by the club or his manager that he was ready to come back to Brisbane is just that, spin.

I have zero confidence that we can retain elite young talent in the current AFL market. The system is broken. Lions/Suns/Giants have become development academys for southern teams to pick from each year. Someone should calculate the total draft value points that has been lost in the draft-trade-home cycle over the past 3-4 years. Like paying USD to buy talent and selling talent for pesos. A total rethink is required from the management to compete in this market. Suns trading Weller for pick 2 is probably the new norm, although I fear for the Suns. If Lynch goes next year they may as well close up shop.
So true Albi.....

Truth is we can't tell how we went this trade period for 2 or three years.

If Schache doesn't cut it, well we got something for him. If he becomes the best fwd in the game we got reemed.

If Charlie fulfills his potential 12 will be cheap, if he is a bust we got reemed.

Hodge known quantity got him for nothing. Still has the potential for the odd stupid act or he could be the making of our back six.

Time and only time will tell.
Yeah I'm hoping he doesn't think he has to become a pseudo enforcer for our young guys.

Maybe I am homesick although I am home ???????????????

Yep, if he was starting to affect the group negatively it was time for the Big Sexy to go.

He shouldn't, there are enough big bodies down there ... they might be taking care of ol man river. Andrews, darcy, mcstay have all gone through a pretty tough initiation, I don't think they will be pushed around too much more.

Tbh it was off field stuff I was alluding to with hodge

Plays for Aspley. Was invited to the state combine and had the second best 20m sprint time I believe.
Ok just saw Aspley on a map..........what other clubs are closer to Brisbane? A player from my local club played for Redlands. Mickey Atkins. Obviously Southport is GC

I would've thought Richmond might have tried to get 12 or earlier to guarantee a pick before Naish

Oskar is a mate of mines son, Lee used to play for Windsor Zillmere in the 80’s around the time of the inception of the Bears-fabulous skills and Oskar reminds me a lot of Bakes.
Kids nickname is the “ginger ninja”. Genuine pace, outside footballer but good finisher. Was part of the Academy but cut loose a few years ago when they thought he wasn’t showing enough. Has been interviewed by all the Victorian clubs and will go, just not sure when.
