GWS will be like Geelong post 2007. If they can keep all their highly rated players, there's no reason this AFL-created monster can't win 4 or 5 flags. If you're a young bloke why wouldn't you re-sign with that as a carrot? Win 2 flags and use "dual premiership" player on your resume for the rest of your career and have other clubs throw inflated contracts at you.Just re-signed.

If we got Acres for pick 30 we would all dance naked around the new stadium.
I think pick 7 or 8 would be it. Possibly a swap of later picks in our favour as a sweetener.
Yeah fair enough. Gaff was a pick 4 though and has somewhat justified that selection (AA and bnf in a gf year), as well as being particularly durable. Maybe next years second instead of this years given we're tipped to drop a bit and it's supposedly a stronger draft year.
I think tradjng next years 2nd for the right deal would be smart. Opposition clubs likely think we will fall away but we could be around the mark again with some luck on the injury front.
Agree, I think a lot of outsiders are over estimating the contributions made by the retirees this season.
Lol heroes. If he plays like crap he's gonna cop some criticism. Never played a game for EP don't see that changing, he's got whipping boy written all over him if he doesn't improve from this year. Lamb should have come in for him this year but didn't get a chance. Cripps and Lecras are part of the problem if you judge them on this years performances, not part of the solution going forward. Keep Cripps for some experience we don't need both of themThe Lecras contract isn't certain still has exit meeting in the next two weeks with the Coach but wants to play on and he knows he has a few heroes ( critics ) out there but wants to be part of our fourth premiership and believes still got some good footy left in him .
As the Coach said you cannot cut too many players we are already losing quite a bit of experience .

Devo.
Agree to an extent. I think we are also guilty of under estimating their impact. If parto, cole, rioli were putting up the games Mitchell, priddis, butler, lecras were putting up we'd be pretty hopeful of a bright future. Having said that, I expect big leaps from the our youngsters next year!Agree, I think a lot of outsiders are over estimating the contributions made by the retirees this season.
Pick 4 after GC were able to take 12 17 year old players the year before. That said, a durable AA player is probably worth more than a (admittedly high) speculative pick. mcgovern is a good kick ? he burns more balls than a crematoriumYou are doing the hard sell,no way is Schofield a better kick than McGovern, no way

I am bullish - bring it onAnd underestimating what players will replace them. Everyone knows Naitanui will help the midfield but collectively we got zero games out of the 2017 draft pool this season.
Venebles, Rioli plus Partington, Mutimer, Cole and Nelson I feel will provide much more in 2018 plus Lycett.
Hopefully Waterman gets a game and Waston also debuts.
BBIB?I am bullish - bring it on
Should also think about doing the same with our future first. Draft is supposedly good next year but they say that every year. To the right team willing to take a gamble, it could be a top 8 pick. Trade it away and back ourselves in to make sure its a pick higher than 14, reaping the rewards this year of what was "supposed" to be a top 6 pick.I think trading next years 2nd for the right deal would be smart. - Tom Boyd was worth 6 (Caleb Marchbank) and useful player (Ryan Griffen).
- Dayne Beams got pick 5 (Jordan De Goey) and a useful player (Jack Crisp).
- Ben McEvoy went for 18 (Luke Dunstan) and a useful player (Shane Savage).
Gaff and 30 for Acres and 8 wouldn't be unheard of.

I'd like to see us be more proactive with our future picks (since half the time we are wasting the second rounders anyway) and try to gamble on teams sliding/climbing etc. Similar to what saints did with the Hawks pick. It can put you in a really good position if you get it right.
Gaff will never get us 8 and Acres aloneI would love to keep Gaff but at the same time trading Gaff for pick 8 and Acres isn't that bad of an idea. Acres is actually a decent player who still have plenty of development in him. We then have pick 8 and 13 to draft two more mids then we can get Kelly and Ryan a bit earlier than we normally would with our second & third rounders.
For example:
Out: Gaff
Pick 8 ( Higgins)
Pick 13 ( Brayshaw)
Second rounder ( Kelly)
Third rounder ( Ryan)
Acres
THat already strengthens our mid stocks and a pure crumber.
