I read somewhere that Ah Chee wants to play with his brother Callum at GCS has he said he wants to come back to WA ?

That was 12 months ago before Gold Coast imploded and sacked the coach again and commenced their 3RD rebuild.

Where would you rather play?

Latest draft ratings has Jack Higgins at pick 8 and Hunter Clark at 13.

If we did trade Gaff for 8 plus a 3rd rounder those two would be my dream draft pickups with those picks.

Kelly for pick 30 and with Venables still to debut that is a serious midfield min rebuild in 2018.

Noted rhat Worple wasnt even top 25. He is a beast of a kid inside mid.

Schofield for Ah Chee?

Port look light on for key backs and losing Trengove. Picks either way to even it out but straight swap seems close to fair imo
We're actually offloading Trengove because of our young key back depth. Hombsch, Clurey, Howard, Jonas, Austin, and Lienert gives us plenty of depth.

Ok the ultimate Gaff trade.

Gaff to Saints for pick 8 plus the Saints 2018 3rd round pick.

Then on trade that 2018 3rd rounder in a stronger draft to Gold Coast for one of their 2017 2nd round picks. They have more picks this year than they will use.

So Gaff goes for pick 8 and say pick 24.

We hit the draft with picks 8, 13, 24, 30 and 48 plus any others we land from other trades.

If they are his highlights I'd hate to see his lowlights. First highlight video I've ever seen to include multiple turnovers. 4th rounder or no deal
You mustn't have seen Tunbridge's highlight video!

Hypothetically if Gaff does want out (I would like him to stay) would St Kilda pick's 7 & 8 for Gaff & pick 12 get it done?

I don't want us to swap any future first round picks as next years draft is meant to trump this one.

Ballsey move by St Kilda if they do

Nothing wrong with Ah Chee (not better than Redden Thorne you ******* ham sandwich) if it's for our 4th rounder or higher.
Y'all are missing the point.

I'm not saying he'd be better from day dot. I'm saying with the right investment and time in the middle I'd say his ceiling is higher. I don't rate Redden as good enough to be a key component of our midfield going forward if we want to be anything more than mediocre. Not bad, mediocre.

I'd like us to invest in Sheed/Ah Chee in the middle because I think the reward could be higher, while recruiting an inside mid this year to develop also.

Again, I realise I rate Redden lower than most, and yes he did okay when in the middle instead of Priddis and co this year.

A lot of people complain about our conservatism and then shoot me down when I suggest something out of the box. Apologies. :)

Fair enough, no argument from me. You know the list much better than I do. Just looked like an area of weakness in our final, but I realise you had injuries.

Still think we could offload Schofield and on trade that pick for Ah Chee, result would be the same from our POV.

You could probably class Menagola and Barlow as recycled as they were mature agers that had spent time with other lists.
Maybe. Take away Selwood, Dangerfield, Fyfe and Mundy and neither of those players add too much.

Regardless, neither Menegola or Barlow were struggling outside of the best 22 of an AFL team when they were drafted.

Anyway I'm heating a dead borse

I completely agree with you. I think the comparison with Josh Kennedy is/ could be very realistic. Ah Chee, looks to have some serious weapons. Maybe lacking consistency ? As yamum, said, he had a blinder in the grand final and is injury free, A good pre season to get extremely fit. Worth a go I think.

I do like the Hunter Clark train of thought Obeanie1. :thumbsu:

You clearly don't rate Redden.

Hey i think he does a fantastic potato impersonation just as much as anyone else on this board, but we haven't seen the best of him yet and i think we're about to. He's finally settled into our midfield properly and with added responsibility plus Nicnat back, he's has the potential to really go BOOM in 2018.

In his last 10 games (Since he was randomly dropped so Priddis could come back into the side after the bulldogs win) he averaged 24 touches, 4 clearances, and 5 tackles a game. Most of that is still at the coalface with Priddis and Mitchell.

He's a good 3rd midfielder to have. Unfortunately due to our lack of talent he's our 2nd best mid. I appreciate the higher ceiling concept with Ah Chee, i just don't rate him as a prospect who's going to do better in that role than Redden.

Wouldn't be adverse to trying though, for a 4th rounder.

Is Nathan Wilson a real chance to go to Freo. If so he's one player we should be targeting. I know he's not a midfielder per se, but he's a half back that would clearly lead our meters gained per game and is a lock down defender.

The overload off what can best be described as slightly above average to average half back flankers is really killing our flexibility. We need to off load the dross from there so we can actually jump on someone like Wilson when they become available. As it is because we have too many it just won't happen

There seems to be a lot of focus on Ah Chee being better or not than Redden due to a throw away line by CC but at the end of the day Hutchings played most of this year and whilst he is a trier, he is limited. We had games from Masten (and no one appears to want to see any more), Wellingham (who didn't play mid but did play forward) and we have lost Priddis and Mitchell. If Ah Chee comes cheap, there is plenty of potential there to think he will be more than useful.

As Dajesmac said, we need some mature options with potential upside and there is no guarantee we will get Kelly (as much as I hope we do). Ah Chee is a good option at the right price. We will still go to the draft with our top picks so there shouldn't be too much lost.
