There's something annoying about paying premo for someone who we could have got years ago and passed up on originally (for Weedon).

Stupid and stubborn i know, but when you openly miss out on a player like that, i don't think i could ever trade to get him to the club unless he cited homesickness and made a big play to come home himself so we got him at a discount.

Darcy

Darcy is a good footballer but I would have two reservations about us drafting him.

1. I am not convinced from what I have seen of him both live and on tape that he is going to develop into a genuine mid. A quality third tall he most definitely will become. Given our critical need to address our underwhelming midfield I don't see him as a priority and I think there would be better "needs based" players available at pick # 13.

2. I have been to told by a few of my Victorian and NSW based contacts that here is a strong belief that he is a flight risk and will head back to SA as soon as he can. Thats a punt that I don't think we can afford at this point in time of our mini rebuild.

That said no denying that Darcy is a real talent.

Now his name sake Lachlan is a player that I am a huge fan of, and I would have no compunction what so ever spending a draft pick in the 18 - 22 range on him, unfortunately we don't have a pick in that range.

Nope. No good having a gun forward if the midfield is garbage. The current team is proof of that.

Adam Kennedy must be targeted. I don't think he'll come here obviously but it would be worthwhile seeing if he might be swayed by Perth. Would add plenty to our midfield.

I think we need to consider anybody with pace and good disposal. Both traits we are lacking.

Nelson I doubt will make it. If he does I think it would be as a tagger. Duggan ought to move back into the middle at some point. Cole I'd like to see on a wing. Considering all that, we could use Wilson on the list.

Matt Kennedy would definitely fit the bill! Would offer a 600-700k to get him even.

I think we'll see a lot of wheeling and dealing this trade period. The likes of Masten, Schofield should hold enough currency to upgrade a 3rd rounder to a 2nd, or something similar. I believe they can both still contribute to an AFL list.
