He's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Would be surprised if any other clubs go near him.
Fair enough. Can see Joel Selwood being a high profile case later on.

It's not gonna be popular but players should be forced to wear a helmet after their first serious case of concussion.

If both have relatively injury free years next year, I can't see both Vardy and Lycett on our list after next season. Both would see themselves as too good to playing regular WAFL. I wouldn't be against trading Lycett now but his value would be the lowest it's ever been.

It will be interesting to see how we structure our rucks/tall forwards. Obviously Nic is our first choice ruck but I don't think we can have Kennedy, Lycett/Vardy and Darling in the same forward line. Unless Darling doesn't do any weights and slims down to play more of a running half forward role.

In the modern game it's becoming increasingly clearer that big forwards don't win grand finals. When the heat is on and the midfield don't have the time to deliver to advantage, too many tall forwards are a liability.

I think that when Nic isn't rucking then he should be off the ground. As much as I love McGovern in the backline, I think he should be the 3rd tall defender/loose man most of the game and when Nic is off then Gov goes to ruck and Shep/Yeo take the 3rd tall.

Assuming the Vardy or Lycett were happy to leave, if another club offered us a good trade deal would we take it?

What ever we do, we need to become a hard running side next season. Get rid of one more tall and all the shitty endurance players need to work on their fitness. Would love a handful of our mids/flabkers to join gaff in distance covered and repeat sprints.
I'd like to see Lamb given a real shot on the wing next year. His endurance and size are potentially huge weapons we are wasting.

work ethic is key if he plays on a wing. Can knock Masten and Gaff all you like but those two are two of our best two way runners (especially when the whole side is doing well). Hopefully lamb pulls his finger out.

Parto is the one i see becoming a wingmen. He seems to have great endurance, decent speed and is a good accumulator. owever, still needs to work on his defensive work ;)

Vardy has had a good year and proved himself ,Lycett has been injured, Lycett could be used for trade but not sure what u would get for him with the latest spate of injuries ,Darlings had a good year 43 goals good forward pressure can take a mark I would keep him he's versatile

Agreed, though I don't think Partington is clean enough to play on the wing. Masten at his best was a good kick to leading forwards.

Lamb is a classic case of man management required. I feel giving him that early game then him disappearing has killed his confidence/motivation. An early run of games next year could make him as a footballer.

Thought parto got cleaner the more games he got under his belt. To me he's the type of mid we need as he isn't one dimensional and can play both roles. That said i don't see him having a frame to be a full time on baller.

Unfortunately Lamb is a confidence player but that said he seems to play like a spoiled brat when things don't go his way. Imagine trading a bloke who would give his 100% even when things aren't going his way and replacing him for a guy that spits the dummy easily?.

Id like to keep Lamb as well but i think his natural position is HFF in the mould of tom lynch from the crows.

People have short memories . Lycett was way better than 90% of what vardy produced this year .
Yes vardy played a few good games but lycett was unsociable , agro and taking the game on when ever he could . Better ruck and better around the ground than vardy .
Calling it now vardy will be third fiddle if both natanui and lycett are fit

That's really going to fix our midfield !
Any HBF you like in the draft ?
He's a FA next year - obviously I'd only trade him if we can get something good. 7+8 for Gaff+13 for example, net us 2 A grade talents for the middle.

Gaff is a one dimensional player. Not to say he's not excellent at what he does. He is. But he holds great value at the trade table.

Gaff has been very good and as u say is a good outside runner and same with Masten to a degree but their possessions don't hurt other sides, Masten is a turnover king hence his lack game time in the first 22 , we should trade him but I'm not sure how much interest you'd get

Even 7 and 8 wouldnt garrantee us a player as good as gaff .
This year doesn't look that great on high end talent . Maybe top 3-5 top talent then about 10-15 reasonable blokes .

We can assess the talent of this crop in 10 years time. :)

I know we won't trade Gaff. It's not the way we do things. But I think we should.

Agree about Masten but disagree about Gaff at his best. Gaffs disposal has gone to shit lately and thats really impacted his game to be honest. He used to be a pretty good (especially going into 50) thats when he caused headaches for the opposition.

This was discussed earlier,Lycett did have some good games before injury but when he came back after injury he was held out of first 22 by Sinclair and then was injured again ,enter Vardy
Vardys had a very good year and along with Petrie did a great job
Don't forget Vardy was a forward at Geelong until, injury
It's all about opportunities and who's fit to play
Should be an interesting year next year for our ruckman

No doubt that Lycett is the better ruckman. Can we play both Lycett/Vardy and Nic in the same team though? Nic is obviously first ruck but I'm not sure we can play two ruckman unless the second ruck can have a serious marking presence up forward.

With the lack of midfield pace this year Gaff has been under a lot more pressure than a year or two before

Watching some vision of Brayshaw, and he does look a likely type. He's got good speed and seems to be pretty clean below his knees. Would be more than happy to take him with our first if he's still on the board.
