Motlop is a pretty creative and dangerous forward. Would prefer him to Fas if we are determined to go this path. More of the tools we are missing up forward than what Fasolo offers.

I agree I would rather motlop also .
Motlop has been injured all year according to the cats board . At his best he is fantastic

I heard Lucas being interviewed and he made out that he will be putting a extension on Hartung to Hawthorn. There was hardly anything to garner that he was on the move so I have no idea where this "Paying overs" is coming from

Don't see much risk to getting Motlop, costs a bit of money - so what?

Might cost the same thing Mitchell cost us this year: 5 or so spots in the draft. Or actually bottoming out and getting access to a top level youngster, whilst we're in a situation where we aren't truly competitive fo the premiership.

I get there's a sentimentality about trying to win one before JK is done, but that's not going to happen with the current list without some extremely good luck that lets us pinch the title. If the club was really that sentimental they'd trade him to a contender to nab a win a la Lake, before his career ends.

So do you tread water by adding an inconsistant, and sometimes brilliant Motlop? Or do you take a knife to the list and build from the draft (given we find it hard to attract good players otherwise)?

I don't particularly want a winger who tackles less than Gaff (I know, not really your role when playing outside but we need more tackle happy players, not less and Hartung had 5of18 games without a tackle (Gaff 4) this year.

Motlop is only 26, I don't think it's anything like Mitchell to be honest.

Not about topping up for a flag before Kennedy retires, it's about building a better squad to have a crack over next 5 years.

I'd be more than comfortable giving up 2 first round picks and in the $2mil per year range for as long a contractor as she wants
