Tarrant from Colingwood to Dockers and back to Collingwood.
Trent Croad from Hawks to Dockers and back again.
I don't think it's any coincidence that the dockers were the common factor in both of these moves. The players obviously realised how shit the dockers were and couldn't wait to get back to their original clubs.

Cometti saying Collingwood might send Mayne back to Freo

https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl/de...emantle-a-cut-price-chris-mayne-ng-b88588115z

So possibly another one in reverse, The club realised how shit the player was and wants to send him back to Freo

Why the hell would the dockers want him back though? I thought they were on the verge of de-listing him

Because the Dockers aren't that smart???

TBH I think don't think this will happen but Collingwood will have to work out someway to get him off their books, without costing 3 years salary. Whatever you say about Crazy Vozzo he still hasn't made a move this bad

Because they tanked and knew they'd be able to get an early second round pick if they let him go.

It's genius list management by Freo if they do indeed get him back on the cheap.

Would basically mean getting Brad Hill for free

I think it is more the fact he didn't turn up for training on time or at all with regularly . Also a no show at recovery sessions a lot of the time. He is the kind of kid that if he went to a professional environment at an afl club he would just crack it and leave with what was expected of him .

He needs to commit at wafl level first where they are using a softly , softly approach before someone will be willing to draft him
That's fair enough, he's obviously a risk on several levels. My point is this though, what would we have lost by having Ryan on the list instead of Gorter? Absolutely nothing imo, the potential gain of having Ryan on the rookie list from last year far outweighs the risk that he might not cope with AFL football when the only difference is that we wouldn't have had the chance to draft Gorter.
We also have more resources than a WAFL team do to assist a young indigenous player such as Ryan to make the transition. Being as conservative as we are I can see why we didn't draft him last year, I still think it was the wrong move.

So Collingwood would be paying part of his absurd contract in this scenario then?

Actually what you said sounds better, so maybe just Collingwood aint that smart

Would have to be about the worst contract in the league wouldn't it?

I see only 4 players that missed the boat and that includes Notte and Ryse Palmer who was a Rising Star - give me a break - we couldn't see good footballer if we fell over one

So we preferred the mighty squib over Danger and Cyril
"Champion" Jarrad Grant was delisted today :D

thoughst on billy hartung?

out if contract. At the right price he wouldn't be too bad. if we can muster up a few second rounders, i wouldn't mind getting him. The thought of working under mitchell might entice him.

averging 22 touches this year and has plenty of pace and a huge tank.

maybe the fun gets taken out of the game and at Afl level it's a tactical battle with game plans knowing forced where to run ,team meetings and constant training demands ..Which can really challenge your love for the game or play for the dollars .

I wonder if this is the reason 'so many' (gut instinct comment) younger players don't make the grade. While some players have the skills - maybe their emotional commitment isn't quite what is required to succeed.

IIRC - Dylan Main (as an example) lost the love for the game, meandered around for a while before having the spark re-ignited. This, in part, may go so way to explaining why he seems to be on a trajectory of improvement. Whether he gets re-drafted is an entirely different question.

I'd rather use any second rounders we can get in the draft.
Wonder if we could do something with Masten/Lamb for him?

I think it turns it into too much like a job for them.

I was thinking of trading masto else where and get that pick and use that pick and Hartung. That said imo masto will get. Third rounder. Maybe we get a decent compo for emac and we use that to get Hartung.

I reckon Emac will stay now. I'm really reluctant to trade any of our draft picks this year unless it helps us get a really good player. Hartung is a good b-grader but not really going to do that much for our midfield. If we could get him for an unwanted player/s then I'd do it, otherwise not.

I'm in the same camp. That said I want us to target players that make our midfield more dangerous. We lack contested ball and we lack speed. I'd convince emac to leave maybe Hawks might even be interested.

I really think a Hartung sort of player is needed. Hartung does have the speed of a Jetta and also the tank of a gaff type. It's the type of player gws have.

Don't get me wrong I think he's a good player, does he improve our midfield much more than someone like Tim Kelly would though?
