To the people that want to trade Kennedy.

I've never understood this "untouchable" notion.

If the right deal comes up for any player, you take it.

Personally I wouldn't want to trade him, but if a desperate team paid way overs I'd be happy for us to improve the team.

Anyone else noted that left side dominant players seem to have more difficultyusing their right side?

Where right side dominant players seem to develop the left side more easily.
Yep, same with most sports. Always expect left footers to use their left foot. Always expected left handed batsman to be more leg side dominant than right handers etc. Definitely something to do with motor control

Wow that would take me at least four posts to come up with all that.:D

Too many clubs, players and picks involved. Need to keep things simple.

Also we are far too conservative to trade Kennedy.
its all make believe anyways so might as well make it interesting

Drawing a long bow here but whatever I feel like having some fun

Somebody recently posted that nizzy was recently seen having coffee with hogan. Got me thinking that it wouldn't be the worst idea to trade jk if we could in fact obtain somebody like hogan plus a midfielder. Would kind of fix our needs both short and long term. A team like geelong would be interested because they need somebody better than Hawkins to win it next year. Anyways I got super carried away...

We go to draft with:

7, 22,20,24,30,33,34,

We get a long term Kennedy replacement

We get an extra first rounder for next year

Obviously this will never happen but in theory is this fair?

Thats a lot of work put into that :thumbsu:, but cant help but think GC get shafted.

Grandads are good for teaching also :) mine was only late 30s early 40s when i was born so still could get about a park pretty well

Logged on this morning to see who we are getting rid of, who we are getting but we are now talking kids play habits and left and right foot kicking. Pffft.

if you want my opinion about who to get and who to delist - I am in the Rohan O'Brien category - GOT NO IDEA.

Edit - corrected O'Brien's christian name. Cheers Godfather32

AFL clubs are not there to teach you to kick, it is just a fallacy that you will learn how to be a better kick at AFL level, you will learn better decision making and learn better awareness but your kicking ability is entrenched by the time you are drafted and while it would not be impossible it is highly unlikely your kicking ability will change.
How some of these blokes in the AFL and I mean there is truck loads of them even get drafted with their kicking ability is beyond me. AFL clubs spend way to much on blokes running and jumping ability instead of what is important. Clarkson has said many times he puts most emphasis on a players kicking skills ahead of everything else in regards to recruiting players, Hardwick has also said there is little that can be done about there kicking once they are drafted.

Couldn't agree more. Timing is pretty much the most important attribute in every sport, it can not be taught.

A month or so ago, someone on here wrote a very good post on how kicking can improve significantly once in the afl system. Ben Cousins was used as an example. In his junior days he'd push the ball down onto his boot, rather than guide it. On his left foot, it was even more pronounced. I think another couple of players were mentioned too. Whoever that poster was, point me in the right direction. That was a good read.

It can be taught but it has to be done at an early age. It is simple mathematics that kids growing up now as a collective will not be as good kicks as kids growing up in the 70's. The number of times you would kick a footy growing up in the 70's compared to now could be 15-1 or upward of that.
It's pretty simple really, if you do something often enough you will get pretty good at it, kids today just don't kick a footy often enough for it to become elite. There will always be individuals who can but across the board it's near on impossible for a kid today to be a better kick than some one from the 70's growing up. Just plain and simple numbers.
