Why do you think he can't get a game, you've just described a pretty good player?
Port have midfield depth . With Wingard spending more time through there and the emergence of powell pepper . Now Motlop might be going there too . West Coast midfield is depleted and not too much talent there anyway he is a good fit with us .

I understand that they have midfield depth but if he was that good he would have still had more games over the years. I mean 6 years is a long time to be on a list for only 27 games, SPP has only been there a year after all.

So far, Simpson's "massive list changes" include:

The delisting of four self nominated retirees:

-butler
-mitchell
-petrie
-priddis (who actually had a contract but decided to call time )

-The delisting of tunbridge who was very much on the periphery

The re-signing of

-mark le cras (who should have got the chop)
-eric McKenzie (worth keeping on late season form)

And the probable retention of wellingham.

So much for a new look list.

Based on AFL Player Ratings, Ah Chee would be about our ninth best player (after Priddis, Mitchell and Petrie retire). That's about equal with Jetta, Darling and LeCras.

Yeah I mean if they haven't made all their changes by grand final week then they are never coming

I think they were going to wait till the end of trading before deciding the fate of Hill Masten and Wellingham

I'm not quite sure why he gets dropped, he was getting picked last year as an inside mid / half forward and he beefed up accordingly. His tackling / blocking etc was fine but he wasn't getting enough clearances , he was always deemed unlucky to be dropped though , he'll probably fill out a little more which will help him if he goes back into that role .
This year he lost a bit of weight to go more outside / half forward. his early 2nds form was good but it wasn't till about round 7 he got the call up , Aaron Young was in front of him but wasn't performing .
He did quite well , had a 3 goal game and a 23 possession game but he'd have quiet periods sometimes and he got dropped after about 5 games where again he was deemed the unlucky one .
He got the odd game after that but he's never had an extended run .
I think it's because he's not a pure inside mid or outside or a pure forward .
If he keeps improving though he could still become a 200 game player.
His handball is a real weapon .
Like I said I hope he stays at Port , we've said we'll offer him a one year deal but I reckon it'll be a fairly low one so he mightn't be very hard to get .
I'd say his trade value is around pick 30-40
I think you will be lucky to get a 4th rounder for him especially with the trade history between our clubs

Seems like we're trying to fill in the age gap around the 22/23 year old range where we stuffed up those drafts.
Ah Chee just feels too much like Bennell, Morton, Lucas, Dick etc, I mean it's not like Port didn't have a midfield position to play him in the last few years, SPP just slotted right in for every game. I feel like if he was good enough they would have played him more.
Bennell, Morton and Dick certainly never impacted the WAFL like Ah Chee has dominated the SANFL. Lucas you could argue however he was very outside

Giles has gone as well

Well with our retired players he is almost best 22
Not accounting for improvement from our young players, guys who haven't even played this year and possible recruits he'd likely slip back down to 28.
I dunno, maybe he'll be a gun, he'll be nearly 25 by the end of next season though and he's shown nothing at AFL level.

Please no Luke Hodge

Hopefully improvement from ah chee will offset that .
I don't think ah chee will be a gun or improve our side dramatically at first but I would hope he could be better than masten and Hutchins eventually if given opportunity as a mid

He's rated at 440....good for about 28th if he was on our list this year

I take the scores each game so they have an average per game. What you are looking at is a last 40 game rating which wouldn't be high if he didn't play too often.

In 2017, his average was 8.9 points per game and 9.0 in 2016. Jetta was 9.1 and 8.0, and Darling 8.9 and 9.6, Le Cras 8.7 and 7.7, Gaff 8.7 and 10.1.

This is their average per game, so feel free to value some who played more higher.

I think what gets lost with Naitanui's jumping and tapping is that his handballing is actually quite a weapon. Imagine he and Ah Chee in tandem at stoppages.

I'd be quite happy with Ah Chee in the middle instead of Redden next year.
You rather a totally unproven player player over someone who actually does well when played in the guts at AFL. Redden lacks foot speed but his contested work is very good and when the opportunity to play in the guts he excelled.

He's been adequate, wouldn't say he's ever excelled. He's a decent player but I think Ah Chee could be better and offers a point of difference with his disposal by hand. Just a personal opinion.

I'm not thrilled at the prospect of Redden being a leading player in our midfield given what he's produced thus far.

Well that just proves the AFL player ratings system is flawed or you didnt read right.

No way is Brendan Ah chee or even his brother is ranked the same level as Darling.
