If he wasn't originally from WA we would not even be having this conversation.

And if he wasn't a top 10 pick. Which he wouldn't have been if Richmond hadn't reached to take him at 6 ahead of Heppell, Prestia, Lynch, Caddy, Darling and whoever else was considered a more likely top 10 pick that year.

I prefer basket case Richmond over Premiership winners Richmond

Motlop is a pretty creative and dangerous forward. Would prefer him to Fas if we are determined to go this path. More of the tools we are missing up forward than what Fasolo offers.

Thread is creating darting eye syndrome .

There are often mature mids cutting up lower leagues heading into trade week with a bit of hype but I think historically they don't amount to much.

Viv Michie and Ben Newton are two I can think of. Both went to Melbourne and did meh.

I suspect Ah Chee will be much the same.

Apparently Eagles are no chance landing Matera and Wilson. They have both nominated Freo.

Wilson would have been nice to get but not the end of the world.

Meh to Matera, over rated due to his last name.

I thought GC weren't interested. Thought I read that somewhere

GC not a strong chance but Ah Chee not concerned about where he goes just not Port Adelaide after limited opportunities . WCE still in the mix to trade in Ah Chee but not over the line with clubs showing interest .

Don't see much risk to getting Motlop, costs a bit of money - so what?

With a few players leaving I don't see him 'stealing' a place from a young player, and we'll have a bit of cash left over.
Venables will be given every opportunity given he was a high pick.
Rioli plays a different role.

Redden, Jetta and Wellingham all been dropped if their form not up to it, so Motlop won't be immune.

Our list isn't that great that we knock back someone like Motlop, not every recruit has to answer our specific requirements, but he definitely adds something.
