Shotgun start to round 23. Make it happen. I posted this in the like hate learn thread. Imagine the excitement between stadiums as scores flash up on the big screens 'around the grounds' style. It would be huge.

This is what I would do, given stadiums, and any possible intriguing battles. Foxtel could put on extra channels like they have in the past for big sporting events, and 7 could also utilise 7mate.

Round 23
All games begin 6:45pm EST Saturday night
Sydney v Hawthorn, SCG
GWS v Western Bulldogs, Spotless Stadium
North Melbourne v Fremantle, Blundstone/UTas
West Coast v Melbourne, Perth Stadium
Geelong v St Kilda, Simonds Stadium or whatever its going to be called next year
Richmond v Essendon, MCG
Carlton v Port Adelaide, Etihad
Adelaide v Brisbane, Adelaide Oval
Gold Coast v Collingwood, Metricon Stadium

WA R23 game in 2018 will be a Freo home game.

I know we have requested the Hawks in round 1 but wouldn't be surprised if we were sent to the new Perth stadium. They wouldn't open it with a round 1 Derby and think they will try to get a big drawing Melbourne club there v the Eagles
The swagger is back

Fairfax Media understands the Tigers will seek more Friday night home fixtures and more Thursday night home games for 2018. Richmond had one home-and-one away Thursday night match in 2017. While Thursday nights are lucrative from a ratings and sponsorship standpoint, Friday nights are still more valuable to clubs in these markers.

The AFL confirmed Richmond would again open the season against Carlton on a Thursday night in 2018 (a Richmond home game) and would also again play in the Dreamtime at the 'G match on a Saturday night (Essendon home match in 2018). It is unclear whether the Tigers will again play Melbourne on Anzac Day eve.

Surely the AFL would want a Rich V Melb Anzac eve game again after the 85k result.

Any reason to why pies vs dees in round 1?
Pies want two games against Dees, but want Dees to retain Queens Bday for Freeze MnD but Pies want to be able to get a good gate

You'd think so yeah. Our two previous Anzac eve games before this year didn't even crack over 60k. Considering the success of the game this year, it would be strange if there was no Anzac eve game between Richmond and Melbourne in 2018.

I personally hope they keep it. I didn't go but it looked absolutely amazing on the television.

Yeah, they'd be stupid to get rid of it considering it was a big success this year. Was a bloody good crowd and it was great to watch on TV. Looking forward to our next Anzac Eve game, should be a cracker and it'd be great if we play you guys twice next season as well.

Well the age needs to do more homework - Um round 2 v Colonwood - Yep Thursday

Only reason I can think not to would be that next year it'll be Tuesday night, and the midweek slot mightn't be so appealing for the league/clubs.

I still think it's quite manageable, especially if Rich/Mel and Coll/Ess play each other after the short break, but the AFL mightn't be too keen on a Richmond Collingwood Sunday twilight fixture...
