Can only see this happening if we have a salary cap issue. Maybe if Mummy hangs on then we might entertain it?

Also when did offering 5yr deals to contracted players become a legit thing?

When the Southern clubs decided not to develop their own talent.

VFL bias is incredible. These trade radio muppets are almost applauding St Kilda

I'm sure the bean counters have planned the salaries around the cap. If Heaters extn was back ended to fit what I assume was an increase in Kelly's offerr, then it seems quite detailed.
I doubt we'd be looking to trade out to meet the cap at this late stage, from what little I understand of how it works. Unless someone ****ed up bigtime

Pretty sure Tomlinson is gone

Why do you say that?

If he really wanted to leave, he could have done so previously when his place in the team was in more doubt, I would have thought. Now, he's happy in his personal life here, he is established in his role in the team and was happy to extend his contract early. The only benefit to him personally I see with the Saints offer is the 5 year contract - which seems a bit excessive, but what's needed to entice him away. Would be IMHO the final piece for the Saints backline.

Not so good for GWS, though. We would lose a second best 22 defender after Wilson, although probably HH or TOJ could replace Adam so perhaps would not be a disaster. However, I really would want Saints to ante up a good pick to prise him out - I would hope the club would hold out for pick 7 or 8 (which admittedly is above his value), even if it required returning a later pick this year (not one of our second rounders), or my preference would be a third round pick next year, if required. I guess we'll wait and see, but I don't see why you think him leaving is a sure thing.

Giants initiated it.

Reckon they have looked at it and are looking to go smaller down back next year and if we can get a top 10 pick and ease salary cap pressure then now is the perfect time to trade him.
Also, we will play a smaller forward line with just Jez and Patton up front. HH is available to play tall at either end when required.

Reckon Aaron Young from Port Adelaide should be someone we look at as a pressure small forward. Wouldn’t cost much and in a department we badly need to address

Barrett had already said our window is shut. Not sure about that

That's ridiculous.

Kelly

Our average age for our selected teams in the finals was 25 years 2-3 months. That's right about Richmond (25 years 1 month in our game and the GF) and younger than Adelaide (25 years 6 months in our game, 25 years 11 months in the GF).

Barrett is rediculous

On HUAWEI NXT-L09 using BigFooty.com mobile app

Care factor on what Barrett thinks about our footy team peaks about zero % and quickly declines after that.

But really this commentary about our lack of depth has been so over blown its not funny as for the most part all that has happen is that with our list size now matching every other team, is that our depth is either on par with other teams or slightly better.

Plus Taranto, Hopper and Setterfield. That makes 13 of our best 22 under 25.
