[Giant Strides]

I read in Canberra Times Powell has been working with a highly regarded sprint coach from the AIS in lead up to combine. He didn't get much game time in the middle for Giants NEAFL for obvious reasons so his raw stats dont show much as a half forward but when he played for Canberra Demons in midfield he got a Rising Star Nom and was impressive . Other Clubs like his ball use vision and footskills.

Absolutely. I actually think his footskills are better than Charlie Spargo's (ex=Academy often linked to GWS & rated higher). Possibly underrated at times being out of sight a bit in Canberra & NEAFL. Primarily a mid, and would give us depth there, but I do think his skills could translate to the forward line and I like that he's been working on his speed. I would like to see us build our team from within, but we do need to be open to getting the one occasional player from somewhere who fills a need.

Not at all, it’s the pace and fact he is clearly talented and in a position where he would cost us nothing

If we want pressure in the forward line, put Scully in there. We have too many outside players as it is.
Scully wouldn’t even come off the field. He can crumb a goal and is a good set shot these days.
This allows someone like Setterfield to come into the team.

This was a thought that came up for me as well. I think it'd be worth a crack.

With Adam Kennedy returning next year, he is another player amongst those we already have who could spend time on the wing in place of Scully.

Without Wilson and Heater slowing down you'd think some time down back likely. I kinda think he perhaps rotates with Zac as the seventh back to link up downfield. But I could be completely wrong.
I see positives in some mix of Kenners and Bunts coming into the back six. They add spine to the back six to me.

I reckon it was his Achilles bothering him in the Prelim. He was sore and was limping most of the game.

I think in spite of that he is worth a 2nd round pick. With Carlton possibly moving on Bryce Gibbs there might be an opportunity to get a Pick there. I don’t think we will be robbed as there are several clubs interested.

He spends time there anyway, it's been clear this year the team is looking for more goals from Scully and Whitfield. Running it forward and entering the forward 50 by foot. He is the best endurance runner in the comp and I'd never want, or expect, him played as a deep forward.

So we have the greatest list of talent ever assembled. Nobody can possibly match us. Given everything on a platter. No team can get near us in terms of top end talent. Just look at the crazy amount of first round picks and all those number ones etc etc whinge whinge whinge.

After all, we have...

10 players taken between 2 & 10
7 players taken between 11 & the end of the first round

That’s 21 first round picks


Who could possibly come close to that?

And when they won by a single point in a huge upset on their home deck earlier this year they had 12 of those 21 playing, same as us -except that they had all 4 of their #1s on the park, while we only had 3 of ours out there.

Why is it, with such an array of unprecedented talent assembled - if we lose its an upset and if we don’t win 4 GFs in a row it’s a failure, but Carlton get to slide by with nobody questioning their wretched performance finishing 16th?

Leon actually said in one of his pressers he challenged Scully and Whutfiekd to go forward and score goals more often. It's part of their job, but not all if it.
Do you mean the field positioning? I find studying the players heatmaos is useful. I get free subscriotion to the AFL live pass as a Telstra customer. Tried to screenshot a couple of Scully's but their not there anymore for some reason.
