I wonder how Janus would be feeling? Spent 3 months talking himself into believing Port would be premiers and one practice game and it’s the same Port with a worse game plan.
More like 10 years

On the Gray hit ... what do we think?

I think he was just bracing for contact, wasn't going after JGov. Incidental contact.

He wasn't going for the ball though - and did get him high. Will be a good early test for how the "Match Review Officer" is going to behave in the year proper.

Another Port fan racially abusing people. When will they learn?

Ban him for life. Name and shame. Let him feel what it means to be a victim.

Ban him for 1 game next week. Don’t let him Add to his preseason premierships.

Nothing in it IMO

There is no ingrained racism problem at Port Adelaide

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/jlt-vs-west-coast.1187199/page-6 - apparently being winked at by the administration now too.

It looked very minor yet it seems McGovern falls hard

Even the replays you cant see that much contact. Looks like a brush past but McGovern sells it like Ric Flair. From the vision Ive seen , mention it and move on

Edit: McGovern not Kennedy. Yes I did not see it until some random post :p

Gov. I thought that originally, but changed my mind. I think he was definitely concussed for a bit. If you look at the video, he was hit on the left side, but sported a big red bruise on the right side of his face afterwards. This happened when his head hit the ground, hard, after the hit. If he were staging, I doubt that he would have gone for the Oscar by bashing his head into the ground.

Definitely got hit - he doesn't fake. Failed the concussion test. Had a big red welt on the other side of his head too.

Unlike Lindsay Thomas who dropped a mark late in the game and instantly grabbed his head

No doubt. I just find it hard to spot the big hit. Maybe as noted its the ground that does the damage. The initial contact looks like a brush past.

Yes only JLT Game 1, but geez did Ports midfield look pedestrian like.
Coming out of that back half it was the Pittard of old, clangers galore.

And Neade boy I love Hinkleys man crush on him, his ineptness the gift that keeps on giving keep picking him Kern
You would think Rockliffe will make a difference. Whether he can do it on his own is another matter.

Can Rocky, SPP and Wines work in the same midfield?

I didn't watch all of their game yesterday but did notice quite a few times Wines and SPP trying to go for the same ball. They both seem to want the same role. Both are also quite immature and just going at it like bulls. An admiral trait but you do need to be smarter to be effective Rocky will be wanting the same role as well.

It was like when we had Thommo and M Crouch in the same team. It didn't work well.

Gov had a pretty big red mark under his eye

You'd think they'd have a rotation set up where they're not in the middle at the same time. SPP only played Greenwood level minutes last year and Rocky can sit down forward for stretches, which would let you put Wines in as the constant inside midfielder while rotating guys like Ebert, Gray, Wingard, Boak etc in.

There is nothing wrong with understanding you're not the right man to fix it.

I completely agree.

Which leaves me wondering why Melbourne seem to listen to him so much, if even he thinks he's not the right man.

the other big issue is that Boak, Ebert, Wines and SPP are not great ball users

Watts and Motlop is there solution to improve the quality of their forward 50 entries however Watts just doesn't get enough ball and at this stage Motlop is not reliable

I remember some hilarious posts in here from Cats supporters during Danger's first preseason with them. His kicking wasn't going to be an issue at Geelong because they had higher standards and Cats coaches and senior players wouldn't accept poor kicking, like we were some sort of amateur bush league outfit. There may even have been some mainstream media articles along similar lines?

Any attempts to point out that while he was an elite player with many talents, kicking wasn't among them was passed off as bitterness. Quite funny in hindsight.
To be fair, once they realized he wasn't an elite kick there seemed to be a bit more of an instruction for him to handball it to someone who can kick, rather than just blaze away and boot it 50 metres forward.
